The Occupy Boston Globe is the independent newspaper of Occupy Boston, an extension of the Occupy Wall St movement.

The movement that began in the streets of Tunisia and Egypt has spread globally. In America the protests have taken root in an ever-growing list of cities, leading to a national movement to 'occupy' public space in order to air our grievances against the present egregious inequality in our economic and political systems.
A group of us within the Occupy Boston encampment saw a need to provide more detailed, objective coverage of the events unfolding not only here in Massachusetts but across the country. Traditional media sources have served to raise awareness of our movement, but have thus far been inadequate in reporting on us as a group and as a diverse collection of individuals from across the social and economic board. Access to clear, accurate information is necessary for a true democracy to function; this is exactly what we want to give.
The Occupy Boston Globe was founded with a two major goals in mind: to provide accurate, in-depth accounts of Occupy Boston (including the broader issues that affect our movement) and to provide practical information on the goings-on at Dewey Square on a day-to-day basis.
The Occupy Boston Globe will come in two forms:
1) A daily, double sided paper, distributed mainly within and around the Occupy Boston encampment at Dewey Square
2) A weekly, full-color broadsheet in both English and Spanish, distributed across the Boston area (and nationally, to those who lend their support!)
This paper will enable us to reach more of the 99%, particularly those who don't have daily access to an internet connection. It will be run as a community paperwith a transparent editorial and accounting process for all those who want to make sure we remain faithful to the ideals of the Occupy movement. Anyone will be allowed to submit news articles to our staff, and we will also allow for a small number of opinions and editorials to be published weekly.
We have a great staff of volunteers writing, editing, and designing what the first paper will look like. Unfortunately for us, however, the cost of materials, printing, and distribution can be prohibitively expensive to a fledgling newspaper. We are asking for your help in covering these costs, and only these costs. Any money spent on the paper will be transparently reported on occupybostonglobe.com once the Kickstarter funding period has ended.
If you have any more questions about who we are, what we're doing, why, or would just like to get involved, please contact us as email@example.com.
We are the 99%.
