About this project

Let's make the world's first crowd-funded book!
New York Makes a Book will be entirely composed of submissions from 100 participants. 100 people, 100 pages.

To publish, we're raising $3,000 to cover the costs of printing a high-quality softcover book from Blurb (www.blurb.com). This will cover a run of 100 books, one for each participant, and shipping costs to New York.

To join in, we ask for $30 and your submission: A photo, an essay, a scan of your foot, a recipe... it's up to you. As long is it fits on an 8 x 10 inch piece of paper.

Once the books are ready, we'll takeover a bar somewhere in the city and pop open the box of 100 books. We're published — let's celebrate!

Please be a local. We want to see you at the bar! Mostly because we don't want to ship these books :)

+++Submissions+++

You should be submitting your own work because of copyright law, sure, but also because this is about New Yorkers, self-expression blah blah blah. Oh, and we'll be publishing some of the content we receive in our project updates, so make sure to get our RSS or check back often.

With objectionable content, remember that you'll be speaking for 99 other people, too.

*************HOW TO SUBMIT*************

All submissions must be as 300dpi RGB JPEGs.

Email them to wemakeabook@gmail.com.

Deadline is June 1!
