About this project
We have an amazing director, a talented multi-ethnic company of twenty actors from NY and London, a phenomenal growing crew… and no money. On top of that, we have a contract with CSV Cultural Center for theatre space and we need the rest of the money to materialize this wonderful historical play. We are asking for help on space rental but if you can, we would love you to back us on more. This is a growing organization that needs a helping hand or two or three and yes, yours too.
WE NEED YOUR HELP MORE THEN EVER! This is a huge undertaking for a company relatively new. We will be posting a video shortly, which shows how NFC began in 2007.
Nylon Fusion Collective’s new production: Fuente Ovejuna (Fountain of Sheep) by Lope De Vega, Directed by Andy Goldberg (Bomb itty of errors) Adrian Mitchell's translation keeps true to Lope De Vega's intention and passion, seemingly contemporary and still with it's classical elements- Adrian vividly captures this master's language! Prior to Lope de Vega, playwrights barely sketched the conditions of persons and their characters. With fuller observation and more careful description, De Vega created real types and gave to each social order the language and accoutrements appropriate to it. He introduced order into all the forms of national poetry, from the old romance couplets to the rarest lyrical combinations and introducing everything that could possibly furnish material for dramatic situations including the Bible, ancient history, Spanish history, the legends of the Middle Ages, current events, and everyday Spanish life in the 17th century. Lope De Vega's plays frequently incorporate poems, songs, and dances. We will enhance these features in our production of Fuente Ovejuna!
This year’s budget for our entire season is 25,000.00 and we are firstly asking for help in completing payment of the space. Included in our budget are: the rights to the play (Samuel French has already approved!), insurance, lighting, costumes, etc.

Fuente Ovejuna, a place where despite hardships, ‘royal’ duty and military dominance, people sing, dance, and laugh! What happens when a town desires peace, harmony, and…sheep? And what happens when enough is enough?
Based on actual historical events that occurred in 1476, after a formerly oppressed town revolts against the oppressor and an ultimate uprising occurs.
For our new season we have added NYLON FUSION WRITERS' COLLECTIVE because we hold so much respect for emerging playwrights as well! Monday Nights at CSV we will be doing readings of these new plays. That is how we’ll be choosing our contemporary play for next season.
