We're a Burning Man theme camp inspired by the classic, sexy sci-fi movie Barbarella. Our mission: we give out free, awesome haircuts on the playa.
2012 will be our second year at Burning Man. In 2011, things went better than we ever imagined – and that’s thanks in large part to our Kickstarter backers. Each day, hundreds of Burners lined up at our shop in the bustling 9:00 plaza. They came in with dusty, tangled hair, but they left with mohawks, or racing stripes – or no hair at all. In just one week in the desert, we worked with a dozen professional hair stylists and gave out more than 150 haircuts!

WE'RE TRIPLING IN 2012
This year Barber Ella is expanding. Our shop is tripling in size, which will give people in line somewhere shady to sit, let us snip up twice as many haircuts, and help us do away with long waits. The $2,000 we’re raising will go directly toward basic, crucial materials like building supplies for the new shop shade structure, and enough haircutting tools that up to six burners can get trimmed at once. If we reach our Kickstarter goal, we’ll be able to give more than 300 haircuts at Burning Man 2012!

To be able to expand, we need your help! We’re dedicated here at Barber Ella Shop, but we’re a small, ragtag band of students, artists, and non-profit workers. Every little contribution helps, and we have awesome merch and backers-only privileges to give you in return.
Not coming to Burning Man 2012? We’ll miss you! We’re happy to ship your backer rewards instead of handing them off on the playa. Just add $5 to your Kickstarter donation for shipping, or $10 if you'd like us to ship internationally. You’re also welcome to transfer your backers-only privileges to a friend, or friends, who will be at Burning Man (and who you think could really use a haircut).
