Help us finish tracking, mixing, mastering and pressing our first full-band album, "Nobody Panic"!
The Project
The foundation of Nuclear Honey consists of songwriters Reaves Greer, and me, Gray Henderson. Eight years ago, as seniors in high school, Reaves and I began playing music together in a band called Ascella Vega. In the years between, we have recorded and put out several EPs, demos, and singles recording at various studios between our hometown of Raleigh, NC and Nashville, TN. As veterans of the recording process, we know what it takes to make a great record, and most importantly, we know how imperative it is to select the right people to be involved. Fortunately for us, we have been able to form relationships over the years with people we trust and respect in various aspects of the music world. However, our excitement and confidence in our abilities to create the best album of our 8-year-long music careers is being put on hold by one thing: money. Our ability to raise the funding necessary to put these relationships to work will make or break this reality. That is why we are asking for your involvement by making whatever monetary contribution you can!
The Team
Dave

We decided to work with a longtime friend of ours, Dave Bartholomew to engineer and mix the album out of his home studio in Raleigh, NC. If you're in the Raleigh area, it's hard to find a musician that doesn't know of Dave Bartholomew. He's dabbled in just about all facets of the music world: doing live sound at venues, as a sound tech for touring bands, a bassists, guitarist, drummer, sound engineer, producer, and currently working at Sound Pure, a music retail store in Durham, NC. We first recorded with Dave in 2005 in the back of a music shop in Raleigh where he worked at the time. Since then, we've had Dave mix an EP for another band in 2010, had him fill in on bass at shows, and called on him yet again to record the first Nuclear Honey acoustic EP, "Tombstone Sessions" in the spring of 2012. We have a great working relationship with Dave because we share many of the same ideas of what rock music should be. Dave's set up allows for us to record in the evenings during the week at our convenience, which is a huge advantage being able to work around our day jobs. He's a member of about a billion bands with whom he's out doing shows every weekend as guitarist, bassist, and drummer so he's never away from music, and he likes it that way. We are proud to be able to work with the hardest working musician in the business and hope to get the opportunity to continue in making this album!
Kenan

Before I say anything further, are you really going to deny that face of anything? Kenan Jernigan has been playing drums at all of Nuclear Honey's live shows in the past year. Through college in Chapel Hill, Kenan played drums for various outfits ranging in styles from jam to jazz to good old fashioned rock n' roll. He also plays in Raleigh based band, Strange Lady.
Webb

At bass, we have recruited long time friend, Webb Bostic. Webb has played bass in a number of bands through high school and college, and you can currently find him playing lead guitar and singing for Raleigh based band, Strange Lady. Webb has been playing bass with Nuclear Honey since November of 2012 and adds a tasteful melodic flare with his unique approach to playing the bass.
Mike

Also a member of the band Strange Lady, Mike Day is a keyboard player with a strong addiction to funk music. Mike’s ability to adapt makes him a huge asset to our ever-evolving musical style. His exceptional skill combined with a modest approach makes it easy for him to blend with soulful progressions, or shred like grease lightening when called upon.
Patrick

Patrick Shanahan is an extremely talented artist out of Raleigh, NC. We have been lucky enough to have had Patrick do CD art for our Tombstone Sessions EP, as well as design some of our show posters. We have called on Patrick again to do the art for the new album, Nobody Panic and the release show poster. Please do yourself a favor and check out his website, artbypatrick.tumblr.com.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
As with any album creation, scheduling time at a studio can create issues when you have band members with day jobs. Having the ability to work with Dave Bartholomew is a huge asset that allows us to overcome this constraint. With Dave, we are able to schedule night sessions during the week, which accommodates all of our job schedules. In addition, we have already tracked drums, bass and some guitar, which puts us ahead of schedule in the case that there is an unforeseen setback.
Mastering can also be costly and a time consuming process. After recording Tombstone Sessions in early 2012, we decided to go with Big Label Sound Studio. They did a tremendous job at a fraction of the cost of some of the local mastering houses, which is why we will be using them again.
Post production and printing can sometimes be a nightmare when trying to decide who to go with, and trying to get everything done in a timely manner. Since we've gone through this process many times before, and worked with a number of companies, we have selected Disc Makers, a company that has done a great job with getting us what we need, and with a quick turnaround. We have had our designer, Patrick Shanahan review all the appropriate templates in order for us to be sure we submit our album art in the correct format, and eliminating unnecessary setbacks.
We feel confident in our ability to tackle any unforeseen issues that may arise through the relationships we have built in the local music industry, as well as utilizing the knowledge we've gained our through past experiences.
