NOVA INITIA: THE FILM

Nova Initia is a  steampunk sci-fi short film by Writer/Director Dale Jordan Johnson, Producers James Morgan and Daniel Lyddon, and Co-Producer Stephen Kraushaar.

Through this world runs the Refugee; from where she can't remember, and to what she isn't sure. Pursuing her is the square-jawed Marshal intent on laying down his form of the law. Two things bind them: the Chase, and the contents of the satchel that the Refugee cannot, must not, let go.

Are you tired of seeing the same old 'reboots' and 're-imagingings' of films you didn't like the first time around?  Do you want to see original stories with new characters and worlds to explore?  Would you like to escape this world through a computer, TV or cinema screen?

You can.

We're just like you: we're looking for something more exciting than tired old remakes.  We want to discover settings and situations; we want a new movement away from the tried-and-tested to the fresh and exciting.

And so do you.

We're producing the short film Nova Initia to give fans something original to watch.  We're going to introduce steampunk design to mainstream audiences.  We're going to introduce viewers to a different way of life in a different world.  And we're going to do this by crowdfunding part of the production budget.

We're asking for $10,000 to help cover costs such as:

• Location fees: to buy time and space in the world of Nova Initia. 
• Production insurance: to keep us safe and secure in the post-apocalyptic wasteland.
• Production design: dressing the distinct settings and manufacturing the steampunk props. 
• Wardrobe: creating bespoke outfits that reflect the fallen steampunk world.
  
• Catering: just because food is scarce in the world of Nova Initia, it doesn't mean our crew should go hungry!

As you can see the crowdfunding goal is an essential part of the production budget.  And because it's so important that you donate we want to give you lots of rewards.  There's a list going down the right-hand side with more information about the levels of funding and rewards, but here's a brief list of what you could receive:

• Promotional and onscreen artwork
• Set visits
• Premiere invites
• Hand-made replica artefacts
• Producer credits on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb)

We want you to give, but we don't want you to stop there, oh no.  We want you to tell your friends, and friends of your friends.  We want you to share our campaign on Facebook and tweet it on Twitter with the hashtag #novainitia.   We want you to embed it in your blogs, share via e-mail and post in all your social network profiles.  We don't just want you:

We need you.

You make Nova Initia what it is: a film for fans, funded by fans.  We need you to donate, and we need your friends and contacts to donate.  Kickstarter has an all-or-nothing policy which means that if we don't meet our $10,000 campaign goal we lose every last cent.  We get stuck in limbo between this world and the world of Nova Initia.  And you?  Your donations don't leave your accounts and your rewards don't leave their shelves.  You get stuck with the same old 'remakes' of those films you didn't like first time around.

None of us want that to happen, so we'll keep promoting the campaign, and you'll keep donating.  If we're lucky enough to raise more than our $10,000 target then your money will contribute to the film's post production budget, funding matt compositing, sound design and scoring.  Better still: the more money we raise beyond the target, the longer the duration of the film...and maybe Nova Initia will appeal to television companies looking for new and interesting adventures.
