About this project
A Celebration of Poetry in Jazz
This creative music and poetry collaboration presents today's relevant and real poets in concert. This concert series is intended to bring our cultural heritage in jazz and poetry back to mainstream consciousness. These mature, thoughtful, emotional and philosophical art forms are outlets of our collective consciousness. These experiences are our experiences; our voices, our songs, our lives.
The Kickstarter project is intended to present this concert in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2012. This is beginning of what we hope is a national program. We are looking for partners who want to bring this program to their city.
Our November concert is scheduled to include poets Lawson Inada, Paul Hunter, Leanne Grabel and Emmett Wheatfall. The musicians include Noah Peterson, Andre St. James, Larry Nobori and special guests.
We always feature regional talent in our showcases combining celebrated artists like Lawson Inada (the award-winning, former Oregon State Poet Laureate who pioneered Japanese-American literature and is recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship) and up and coming poets like Emmett Wheatfall (whose poetry and music CD "When I Was Young" earned him praise in Wine and Jazz Magazine as being "...one of the most original and powerful debut jazz artists of the year.")
For those who appreciate music and literature, these concerts are an entry into a new way of understanding the world we live in. This movement, these concerts, are inspired to unite our common selves while honoring our differences. The material presented is universal.
Please support these efforts with your gifts and attendance. We think you will be as inspired as we are.

Connected as Noah Peterson (2909 friends)
Montana Saxophonist and Composer Noah Peterson has been developing the concert series "A Celebration of Poetry and Jazz" for 2 years. Initially starting in jazz clubs featuring single poets the series has moved to concert halls and colleges, features multiple poets and showcases the talents of jazz musicians and poets presenting their original works in a collaborative setting.
Noah has produced and co-produced a number of CD's and his own jazz recordings have received airplay throughout the U.S, Canada, Europe and limited airplay in Asia and Africa. He is frequently touring with his bands and has had a life-long love of poetry.
These concerts represent his ideal of using art as a tool to uplift humanity.
For the poetry and jazz concerts, Noah works with various musicians and poets to develop each individual presentation as part of the whole event. There are no rules about content, the point is to let the art speak for itself.
Noah has been running Peterson Entertainment, Llc since 1994. Over the years the company grew from a booking agency into a record label, an artist consulting agency and an artist management company. Peterson Entertainment procures music for various clients and assists bands and artists with development.
