About this project

UPDATE: I am so happy to be able to work and create my next collection! It's overwhelming to see my kickstarter reach it's goal and continue to grow still! The more my campaign grows, the larger my collection will be, and the better the rewards to you!

In 2008, I launched my first full collection and the online store www.nickalan.com I had a lot of great press including print, celebrity, and television. After selling out of my collection completely, I decided to move my company to NYC in the summer of 2009, looking to expand and reach a larger market. I produced a "mini line" in 2010 to test the waters of NYC and it was pretty overwhelming here as well as worldwide. I want to continue with this success and reach new heights. Now I am trying to produce a larger number of pieces for my forthcoming collection, as well as larger quantities of each piece to meet the growing demand of my label.


NYC is a great city for fashion, obviously, but it's also a tough one to break into. Even with my continued success and always-growing fan base, it's a struggle to keep meeting my production needs. I have the demand for new product and now I just need the capital to produce it. I want nothing more than to design and create for my clients as I have for the past 10+ years.


Here is where you come in: Increasing cost efficiency of a clothing line is a "catch 22." Having a larger number of each item produced brings the overall production cost down per piece, however, the initial cost of production is higher because there are minimum quantity requirements.

Simply put: The higher the quantity, the lower the price per piece, but with a higher initial cost.

Buying in larger quantities is simply the wise choice in retail. With your help I hope to expand my line greatly in 2011 and pave the way for my future collections.


Reaching my set goal of $10,000 would be a great start on this new path, but I would love to raise even more so that I could produce a full catalog... shirts, coats, jewelry, denim, bags....
