How can you support us?
1. PRAY. This project started with lots of prayer, and we know it will only continue that way.
2. DONATE! If we can get enough people to donate whatever they can, big or small, our dream to reach tweens in a fresh and relevant new way just may become a reality. Please consider helping us launch this fun and exciting project.
3. TELL YOUR FRIENDS. Please, please, make a phone call (or ten) to some friends on our behalf, and email the link to this Kickstarter page to all your friends with a personal note. Share us on Facebook over and over. We firmly believe OurShow fills a huge void in the tween media market, but it can only do so if people are aware of it! This project has been a family and friends effort, and we will not succeed without your help.
"The Newfangled Project has a vision to change the landscape of television for young viewers. It's encouraging to watch talented artists growing a project from the conceptual stages into preproduction and beyond. Katharine and Kathryn possess a rare combination of creativity and responsibility, the two most important attributes behind any successful production. In their hands, I know OurShow will exceed even their lofty ambitions, providing much-needed quality programming to our younger viewers."
Mike Kane, Emmy Award-winning Producer
How does Kickstarter work?
We have 33 days to raise at least $50,000. Backers are only charged if and when we reach our goal. So if we don't reach our goal (hopefully this won't happen), you get to keep your money. And we get to go cry ourselves to sleep. Just kidding. But at least this guarantees that you won't be throwing your money away.
What is OurShow?
"OurShow is a fun, positive, entertaining show for kids. Love the script, love the team. Can’t wait to see where this project goes.” Dan Fleuette, VP at Victory Film Group and Producer of Sarah Palin: Undefeated
OurShow is a show about tween friends who decide to write, produce and direct a sketch show from their garage. In between sketches, parodies, music videos and more, they go through the ups and downs of tween life and production. Their parents and families are a huge part of their lives, and we see their interactions on a daily basis. OurShow will also feature original music and new artists.
Why are we producing OurShow?
"I have had the privilege of working closely with The Newfangled Project team. These folks are serious players in the world of relevant, modern, and influential Christian entertainment for tweens. If you're looking for the same old churchy drivel, look elsewhere. However, if you're serious about reaching today's kids, if you want the kind of programming that can compete with Nick and Disney, but embody Biblical values in a dynamic way...this is your crew."
Aaron Reynolds, New York Times Best-selling Author of Creepy Carrots! and The Fabulous Reinvention of Sunday School
According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, kids watch 7.5 hours of media per day. Pre-teens are heavily influenced by the behavior and attitudes they are exposed to, and the media is one of the biggest influencers of children ages 8 to 13.
Because of this, The Newfangled Project is endeavoring to produce and inspire elevated entertainment for older children and pre-teens through OurShow.
Not only that, but we have really fun, fresh scripts about these kids and their families that kids will love!
What do we need?
At a minimum, we need $50,000 to produce the pilot episode. However, our ultimate goal isn’t simply to produce a pilot show, but to produce an entire series of shows that we intend to distribute to a wide audience. Every extra dollar that we raise will put us that much closer to realizing our goal of creating a series and influencing the widest possible tween audience.
Please consider helping us reach our goal by donating whatever you feel you can give. We have a wonderful, extremely talented cast and a professional crew behind this project who are ready to go. The production expenses include actors, cinematography, editing, lighting, audio, wardrobe, hair/makeup, insurance, accountants, attorneys, marketing, etc. Production is expensive, but the next generation is worth it.
Who's on the OurShow team?
"I am impressed with the vision to develop a high quality, uplifting, and morally sound media product that will grab the attention of today’s overexposed tween consumers. OurShow promises to deliver just such a product that will nurture and enrich the spiritual and social lives of tweens, their friends, and their families. I enthusiastically support Kathryn and Katharine in their pursuit to transform this vision into reality. And of equal importance, they are the kind of persons you hope to have producing it."
