About this project
My name is Courtnee Papastathis, and my calling in the world is to transform lives.
As a working artist, musician and director, I do this on a shoestring, with the invaluable-yet-limited resources I've cultivated -- including the non-profit community arts organization I co-founded in 2009.
In this case, I seek to effect the lives of others by formally performing the music I've created.
Since 1999, I have published music online under the band name "Not Applicable". My original works topped the ambient electronic charts on mp3.com consistently, and in the many years since the sites downfall I've created more original music and covers which have never been performed.
Though compelled to see the last 12 years of work come to fruition by bringing my music out from behind a computer screen and onto a stage formally, I've previously thought putting on a real show consisting solely of my work was unrealistic.
Then, I heard about Kickstarter. <3
Over the years I've become proficient in multiple artforms I intend to express in this performance, including circus aerial and painting, photography and design. Ultimately, what I'm proposing is a provocative multimedia one woman show and album design project.
I've added a breakdown of my budget to the FAQ here for those interested in knowing. Anything above and beyond the initial $2200 goal will be put into making the show a more immersive experience. Things like more rehearsal time in the space, a better space, projection, more in depth lighting design, decorations, etc. So please keep tweeting and sharing and backing, no matter what!
Please note that INCENTIVES ARE RECURSIVE. So, a $400 donation gets you notoriety, two CD's, my discography in MP3 format, a signed 8x10" print, and two tickets to the show.
Thanks so much for your attention. Please spread the word! Spread spread spread!
FAQ
-
I estimated the minimum amount I needed to put on a show based on my experience putting shows on in Seattle with my current network of resources. I then added 10% to over the Kickstarter and Amazon Payments fees.
$500 is going to purchasing the equipment required to perform my original music live. I need a looper, something like the DigiTech JamMan Stereo, vocal effects and a few odds and ends.
$100 is going to self publishing the live album in the same way I've published Songs of Leaving -- top quality printing and burning at home.
The other $1400 is going to the venue rental and advertising.
Other aspects of the show, like the photography and video recording, are leveraged based on existing relationships I have with other artists, and paying them out from the door.
Anything above and beyond the $2200 goal will be put into making for a cooler show. So please keep tweeting and sharing! The more money I have the more of my resource I can apply and the more amazing this project will be.
