Update #3: Gigi Burris for NCP t-shirt

Posted on January 30, 2010

Here's a peek at our new 'Classical Music is Dead*' tee, created exclusively for us by the fabulous Gigi Burris. A write-up from our blog:

People are aware of all sorts of important causes and precious endangered species going extinct…but what about the survival of classical music? Or at least its relevance to people outside classical music-dom. Like philately (which used to be one of my favorite hobbies before the miniature works of art went adhesive), classical music has become one of those hobbies that contain a handful of middle-aged aficionados, who I’m sure want to see classical music (ahem, concert music) live beyond their lifetime.

So let’s make it happen! Our new and improved ‘Classical Music is Dead*’ tee, exclusively designed for us by Gigi Burris, will help get classical music in people’s heads and get you loads of attention. It sure did for Rachel, read about her shirt shenanigans: http://nouveauclassical.wordpress.com/2009/07/29/psa-classical-music-is-dead/. These limited-edition gems are rare, so you’d better nab one fast and get ready to be stalked by paparazzi! Shirts arrive February 5…more info and pics coming soon.

Please spread the word about this and our Kickstarter campaign! Just $5 more will take us to 10% of our goal!

Update #2: 10% of ticket sales will be donated to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund

Posted on January 20, 2010

It's great to try to save classical music and make the world lovelier through art, but it's even more important that we help those in need, which is why we decided to do this when the disaster struck. Thank You for your support!

The Nouveau Classical Project (NCP) is a group that re-imagines the classical music concert, creating a place where fashion and music converge. In a time where audiences’ tastes have grown more diverse, we offer a fresh and exciting way to experience art music that will satisfy cultural omnivores.

We provide a platform for emerging composers, fashion designers, musicians, and artists to showcase their talents to the creative and curious listeners of New York City. We achieve this with our concert series and events, where we create opportunities for contemporary composers to have original work presented. At NCP we also do not take the visual element for granted: fashion, informed by a modern perspective, matches the music. Musicians’ garments (our ensemble’s ensemble) are styled by fashion designers, who base their inspiration on the music we program.

Our events take place throughout New York City (until we conquer the universe). Other activities include fashion shows, operas, art exhibitions, and more.
