A few years back I started a company called Birth co. It stood for everything that was creative in my life. It's been my goal to pursue this concept and develop it into a record label. All the home recordings burned to CDR were considered part of the Birth co. process. Different shows and fundraiser efforts would be associated with the Birth co. name. Now that this full length is finishing up with more of a professional taste, it seems fitting to have it be the first official Birth co. release. Kickstarter is a huge help in this process. It's providing us the means to start an independent company that thrives on community and relationships...an actual record label that is structured around creativity and artistic freedoms.
Much of these first steps depend on you. If the money isn't raised then I'm sure another way of releasing this will present itself. I'm a sucker for the concept of actually having tunes on vinyl. A lot of you are without a turntable to listen. But you can thrift one up for cheap. No sweat. The album will come with a digital download(for instant upload on your computer media player) or a physical CD(for instant jam sesh in your early 90's Honda Accord). Whichever you prefer.
I've tried to include some super incentives to make it worth your while. The focus is definitely the new recordings getting pressed. If I can toss you some temporary tattoos and handmade gear while we're at it then whats the harm? Everything will be for sale through my website after the kickstarter has passed...but the pricing may go up a few bucks. With some luck we can press more than the amount we're asking. We need plenty of help. If we reach this goal...keep supporting. I'd love to order more vinyl then planned. Like I always say, "If you demand 'em...I'll supply 'em." I've never said that & that was my first time ever typing it. But I'm going to start saying it...a lot.
