About this project

About the Movie

Rose and Sophia is going to be a 15-20 minute short film about two best friends who live in a small town of about 10,000 people, and without cellphones, money, or driving privileges they routinely suffer from boredom.  Each living within walking distance from the other, they often meet up at a central destination, a Lutheran church in their community, to make mischief and pass the time. In the midst of puberty, boy problems, and failed attempts to become more grown-up, Sophia and Rose rekindle a childhood interest to help them make sense of their world.

Game Plan

Within the next two months we're going to film and edit this movie, so it will be ready just in the nick of time to submit to festivals this fall! It's going to be low-budget, but luckily I have a slew of amazing friends with experience and degrees in film-making to help every step of the way. Two months isn't much time to make this all happen, but with your generous help and our determination, I know we can deliver a fancy movie you always dreamed of!

But where the heck will all this money go?

This Kickstarter project is to raise funds for only the most minimal costs: Food for the cast and crew, gas, props, a hard drive for our footage, festival submissions, and to pay the actors and crew. Luckily, many costs are spared because I own my own camera, tripod, lights, and sound equipment since I invested in all that long ago so I could start making things!
