About this project
Hi Everyone,
I’m Nancy Sanchez and I’m here to talk to you about a very special project of mine. For those of you who have come to my past shows and listened to my first CD know that I’ve focused on being a jazz singer and songwriter. I’ve been writing songs since I was a little girl, at first mostly in Spanish since I migrated to the United States from Toluca Mexico. I then became fluent in English and acquired a passion for Jazz music and for American singer/songwriters. Throughout the years, I’ve managed to build a repertoire of original compositions in both Spanish and English.
I have been writing a lot in the last few years and I decided that this year I really needed to begin the process of making a new record. This recording of my newest written material will explore a totally different side of my musical personality with an emphasis on Pop mixed with my Latin, Jazz and World Music influences.
I feel very fortunate and super excited to be working with Evan Stone and David J. Carpenter who are the Co-Producers for this project. With their collective skills and vision they have started to make these latest songs feel new and exciting, and the musicians that they would like to hire to finish the recordings are some of the best in the business.
I often get people asking me after a show “Is the Hippo Song on this CD?”, “when is Ruby in L.A. coming out?”, or is “Sunny Day recorded yet?”
The answer is always “Yes it’s coming out... soon!", or, "It’s on its way”.
This is true…it is "on its way"; however, while recording the CD I’ve encountered some technical difficulties. And by that I mean Money!
Making a CD is super expensive and I need your help in order to finish it.
We’re living in a time when artists are very much in control of their own careers. Most of us now have to promote ourselves, book our own gigs, record our own CDs which usually includes: paying for a recording studio, hiring the musicians, hiring an engineer and a producer, mixing sessions for the music, mastering the music, creating artwork for the CD and then finally manufacturing the actual CD. Most up and coming artists don't have the luxury of financial backing from a major music label to cover the cost of producing a fully finished product along with promotion and distribution. There is a lot of work to be done and limited funds to do it all.
I’m very excited about this new collection of songs and with your help I know we can raise enough money to finish this project.

Every once in a great while, a fresh singer with a distinct voice
emerges onto the scene. Today that voice is Nancy Sanchez. Sanchez has been busy crafting original compositions for her upcoming
recording which will borrow influences from her debut self-titled EP
and merge them with her unique and modern style.
Upon hearing Nancy, one is reminded of such classic voices like Billie Holliday, Carole King, Sarah Vaughn, Joni Mitchell and Astrud Gilberto, as well as contemporaries such as Bjork, Regina Spektor, Imogen Heap and LisaEkdahl.
Born Nancy Sanchez Estrada from the town of Toluca, Mexico, now resides in Orange County, Ca. She has been singing and writing music from a very young age, often as a Mariachi cantante in her teens, and was a member of "Mariachi Anacatlan" and "Mariachi Puno de Oro". While attending college, Nancy was exposed to American Jazz and instantly developed a love for it, often listening and singing along to greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Nancy Wilson.

music and share it with the world is a gift that I am grateful
for.Real-life situations influence my writing styles as much as my
dreams and fantasies do. In my songwriting I try to fuse the two.”
She created a “buzz” while performing at local Orange County
restaurants and clubs, drawing the attention of Steamers Jazz Club’s
owner Terence Love and veteran jazz drummer, Evan Stone.The two were immediately impressed by her talent and jumped on the idea of
featuring her. For the last three years, Nancy has been performing
monthly at Steamers and continues to gig at Spaghettini’s and other
So. Cal jazz clubs. In May, she took the big stage at the 2010 KSBR
Birthday Bash Jazz Festival and also performs at the prestigious
Laguna Beach Art Festival. Earlier in 2010, drummer Evan Stone produced and helped launch her debut CD, “Nancy Sanchez” which continues to receive rave reviews and gets frequent airplay on So. Cal’s only two jazz radio stations, KKJZ and KSBR. In early 2011, Nancy was nominated for both “Best Jazz” and “Best Latin”, two prominent categories at the 10th Annual OC Music Awards, and walked away as winner of the “Best Latin”. She also was asked to perform with her group for the ceremonies, and easily won over the crowd of 2500 musicians, Academy members and industry representatives.
