The renowned photographer will participate in mass floating session to rescue the Dead Sea and support patients around the world who need it desperately

The event will take place on September 14, 9 a.m. at the Ein Bokek Public Beach - The public is welcome

Activist and visitors will go in the water for mass floating event

Spencer Tunick is returning to the Dead Sea for a mass floating event to raise awareness of the disappearance of the Dead Sea. Tunick will participate in the event and possibly photograph it.

The event by the “Save our Sea” group, taking place for the third year, will be held on Friday, September 14, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Ein Bokek Public Beach. At that time environmental activists and concerned citizens from all over the world will go into the Dead Sea and float in it together – a unique experience that can only happen in this unique body of water.

The group nude photographs taken last year and the stir they created helped raise awareness of the deteriorating state of the singular natural treasure. In response to the outpour of reactions, Tunick decided to join this year's special protest event to raise awareness of the Dead Sea's disappearance.

It will be the third Dead Sea Float, whose purpose is to send the message that the Dead Sea is not only a natural treasure but also a source of cure for patients throughout the world who need it desperately. Nobody has the right to destroy it.

Save our Sea is a group of activists suffering from various diseases such as psoriasis, who rely on the unique climate of the Dead Sea area and its characteristic curative attributes to treat their skin diseases. The patients are concerned about the grave state of the Dead Sea and fear for their health if it continues to deteriorate.

Says John Sekulow, co-founder of Save Our Sea: “The Dead Sea is necessary for the health and quality of life of psoriasis patients in Israel and around the world. We fear the day when millions of patients cannot get the treatment they need because of its disappearance."
