Hello there Kickstarter!

Naked Fiction began as a little collaborative songwriting project between singer Carmen King and guitarist Tom Kenny in 2009 and eventually evolved into a full band which now includes drummer Derrik Sakima, violinists Yuri Kye and Jessica Ling, violist Ivy Zenobi and bassist Bob Todd. Between our own careers as musicians or otherwise, the past year we have spent countless hours writing, re-writing, rehearsing, and refining the best of our songs to prepare for our live stage debut which took place at Cafe Amnesia on April 15, 2011 to a full house. Since then we have performed at several more important venues in San Francisco, including 50 Mason Social House and Cafe Du Nord.

We are heading into the studio July 22-24 to produce our official demo recording, an EP of our finest work thus far. We have booked the studio, hired a sound engineer, bought the equipment, and discussed over and over again what we want to convey and what will be produced... We have been building a steady fan base and really feel that now is the time to put a proper studio recording together that we can share with the masses. We want to bring the best of ourselves to our audiences and really take our music to the next level - to places it has never been, and with that we need your help!!

Our goal of $4,500 will cover studio time, recording engineer, CD production, amplification system for the different fine stringed instruments, mastering, piano tuning, and session keyboardist. Any funds remaining will go towards album art work, extra copies of CDs, and transportation expenses. We have already poured thousands of dollars of our own money on equipment, maintenance, deposit for the studio, etc. We are asking for your support so that we can release the kind of album and make the kind of music that we feel you deserve to listen to, and we want to do musical and artistic justice to the songs that we have written.
