We have 72 hours to write, shoot, edit, and present a film to a live audience of over 1000 people. Let's kick some butt.
Imagine you have the chance to show people what's inside your head. Now imagine you have 72 hours to do it.
We have been selected to compete in 72 FILM FEST: a film festival based out of Frederick, MD. On the launch date of September 29th, we are given only 72 hours to script, shoot, edit, and turn in our short film. It must meet the guidelines given to us, which are kept secret until the launch day.
This film festival is highly regarded in our community. 72 FILM FEST puts it best:
While many of the arts are supported in the area, and have stages or
galleries, filmmakers do not have a centralized place to show their
work, and 72 Film Fest wants to become that, by bringing attention to
the local talent.
We as a film group highly value our participation in events like 72 FILM FEST for this very reason.
This event is attended by a crowd over 1000 over the course of two days, October 7th and 8th. It is hosted at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick, Maryland. People attending include other filmmakers, local congressmen, vendors, and potential employers and clients.
What's involved in your crazy scheme?
Recently, we've been practicing for 72 FILM FEST the only way we can. We meet one night, come up with an idea, then shoot it.
Then reshoot it.
One more time.
Once more for good measure.
With such a time constraint as 72 hours, we have to edit the film immediately. We don't have time for reshoots, so we have to get it right that day. This can make or break the short film. Some of our shorts have been quite successful, but due to our equipment issues, many have not been.
If something like sound or lighting is off, that's it. We either deal with it, or give up on the shot. If something like this happens during 72 FILM FEST, we are, to put it frankly, screwed.
And that's where you fine people come in.
Why should I donate to you crazy kids?
As an amateur film group just starting up, we do not have much equipment that is so desperately needed to film. Our current selection of lighting, mics, tripods, editing software, etc. is either non-existent or severely outdated. New equipment would not only help with this project, but future ones as well.
We've attempted to make movies in the past for 72 FILM FEST, but were never able to make the deadline due to issues with shoddy equipment, old editing software, etc. That really sucked.
So, your donation helps us in the long run, as well as for this project. We have a lot of great ideas we want to share with the world and we think you're awesome for helping us out with it. Plus, we wanna give you some awesome thank you presents. That's a good reason too!
