Update #22: We finally made it.
Hey! Remember Mystery Brewing Company?
We remember you! We just wanted to let everybody who backed us know: through trials and tribulations and everything else - we've made it!
We had quite a few twists and turns over the past two years since we first put this Kickstarter campaign, but as of today Mystery Brewing Company is a fully permitted brewery and we'll be making our first beer release this week:
http://www.mysterybrewing.com/2012/02/07/our-first-official-public-appearance/
We couldn't have done it without you - for honest and for truly. Thanks again for your enthusiasm and support.
Those of you over the $100 level, you've still got some prizes coming your way that you've been waiting patiently for and don't worry, they're still coming! That includes beer dinners, keg parties, and everything else!
We haven't forgotten about you; you'll always hold a special place in our brewery.
Thanks again!
À votre santé,
Erik
Update #21: Follow me through Beer School.
Update #20: Where are my goodies!?
Update #19: Video chat #1 - This Saturday.
Update #18: A couple of notes.
Update #17: Would anyone like to be interviewed?
Update #16: 8 days to go, post-goal.
Update #15: GOOOAAAL! We did it!
Update #14: Matching funds update and a design preview.
Thanks to some more generous contributions, we're currently at 73% of our goal, without taking matching funds into account, yet. Thank you all.
By noon tomorrow, assuming no more backers before then, we're over $30,000 and in the home stretch.
But no more backers? That's ridiculous! The final goal is in sight, let's take advantage of that matching funds offer and get a lot closer than that before noon tomorrow!
In the meantime, I wanted to share a draft from our wonderful designer (who is also a backer). It was originally a sticker draft, but I think we're looking at making it into one of the t-shirts... and there will probably be some more tweaks along the way, as well - I just wanted to wet your appetite.
As for what it is? Well.. that might just be a mystery for now. ;)
À votre santé,
Erik
Update #13: Matching funds on pledges from midnight tonight until noon on Tuesday.
Friends --
We've had a very generous offer. Starting at midnight tonight (Sunday, July 11) and going through 12:00 PM EDT on Tuesday, July 13, all pledges made to our project will receive a 50% matching grant from one of our backers.
That means, if you'll pull out your calculator and follow along, that all pledges made in that time period will be matched fifty cents to the dollar. So, if you donate $20, another $10 will be pledged. If you donate $50, it's $75 total. If you pledge $100, it's $150, and so on. This includes any increase in current pledges made during this period.
Note: That doesn't actually mean that if you pledge $50 that you can get the $75 reward - this is not Kickstarter making this match, this is a backer that has offered to do this awesome, generous thing.
What does that mean? Well, it means that if you've been waiting to pledge, or you have friends that have been waiting to pledge, that now is the perfect time. It means that until noon on Tuesday, the goal is 50% closer.
Make sure you follow us on Twitter or Facebook for updates.
À votre santé,
Erik

I used to be an aimless wanderer. I went to college as a Math Education major, I graduated with a B.A. in Performing Arts and have been working in the IT department ever since. Then, this one magical Christmas, my mother bought me a homebrew kit and I realized this amazing love of making beer. I like to tell people that I like making beer more than I like drinking it. It's not a lie - the creative process behind making a truly terrific and singular beer is an intoxicating (heh!) mixture of science and art.
After years of telling people that I was going to start my own brewery, I decided to start working toward it and did so by getting into the industry in the only way I knew how: blogging. In March of 2009 I started a blog called Top Fermented and began writing. Since then, I’ve also gotten involved in the North Carolina Brewers Guild, doing their website and writing for them. At the same time, I started working alongside another startup brewer in a national re-launch of the site Know Your Brewer. With all of this geekery under my belt, I spoke on a panel at the Craft Brewers Conference entitled “Storytelling 2.0: Social Media is a Conversation” giving professional breweries advice on how to use social media to reach their customer base.
Now, I’ve decided that it is time to realize my dreams of brewing professionally and have started Mystery Brewing Company. Join me! There’s beer where I’m going.
