Your name is featured prominently on our website as a token of thanks for your pledge.
Pledge $10 or more
You receive a certificate acknowledging how incredibly awesome you are to have contributed to a startup brewery, a Mystery Brewing sticker, and your name featured prominently on our website. You also receive an invitation to frequent live video chats with me on topics including beer tasting, styles, and, of course, the future of the company.
Pledge $20 or more
Same as the $10 pledge, plus a Mystery Brewing church-key bottle opener.
Pledge $50 or more
Same as the $20 pledge, plus a Mystery Brewing t-shirt, and an invitation to a Grand Unveiling party for kickstarters soon after the release of our first beer.
Pledge $75 or more
Same as the $50 pledge, plus your own fabulous Mystery Brewing tulip glass.
Pledge $100 or more
Same as the $75 pledge with an induction into the Mystery Brewing "Irregulars" - a club of supporters of the brewery that will include the opportunity to acquire special Mystery Brewing beers made specifically for the club. Homebrewer's special: Let me know that you're a homebrewer and I'll send you a 5-gallon sized, all-grain, homebrew recipe of the first beer that we release.
Pledge $500 or more
Same as the $100 pledge, but you also receive framed posters of our label art, signed by me (and probably the label artist as well). Homebrewer's special: Let me know that you're a homebrewer and I'll send you a 5-gallon sized, all-grain, homebrew recipe of each of the beers we release for a year.
Pledge $1,000 or more
Same as the $500 pledge. In addition, I go to you, where ever you are (within a day's travel of Durham, NC by any modern means), and hold a personal beer tasting of Mystery Brewing's first beer with you and a few of your friends.
Pledge $5,000 or more
Same as the $1000 pledge. Instead of a tasting, I go to you, where ever you are (within a day's travel of Durham, NC by any modern means), and hold a personal, private beer dinner with you and a few of your friends using the first four beers that Mystery Brewing produces.

I used to be an aimless wanderer. I went to college as a Math Education major, I graduated with a B.A. in Performing Arts and have been working in the IT department ever since. Then, this one magical Christmas, my mother bought me a homebrew kit and I realized this amazing love of making beer. I like to tell people that I like making beer more than I like drinking it. It's not a lie - the creative process behind making a truly terrific and singular beer is an intoxicating (heh!) mixture of science and art.
After years of telling people that I was going to start my own brewery, I decided to start working toward it and did so by getting into the industry in the only way I knew how: blogging. In March of 2009 I started a blog called Top Fermented and began writing. Since then, I’ve also gotten involved in the North Carolina Brewers Guild, doing their website and writing for them. At the same time, I started working alongside another startup brewer in a national re-launch of the site Know Your Brewer. With all of this geekery under my belt, I spoke on a panel at the Craft Brewers Conference entitled “Storytelling 2.0: Social Media is a Conversation” giving professional breweries advice on how to use social media to reach their customer base.
Now, I’ve decided that it is time to realize my dreams of brewing professionally and have started Mystery Brewing Company. Join me! There’s beer where I’m going.
Congrats on living your dream. Even though i'm out here in CA, I felt I had to be a part of this. As a fellow homebrewer and beer geek I'm really happy for you!
Just made it under the wire. I'm glad you got funded and I'm happy to be a part of it.
It's ok Erik, I totally LOOKED 18, lol
What? That can't possibly be legal.
It's official, I'm backer now! I'm ecstatic to be a part of it. After all, 14 years ago you took me for my first pint in a Canadian pub... (please note i'm only 28 now). A votre sante!
Congrats Man! I was seriously rooting for you!
Congrats!
Too bad I'll be travelling for business, love to be at the kick off party next Friday - Cheers!
Erik..gotta give some props to Trick for the shamelessly awesome promotion he's done getting us to give you money. Cheers!
Let's get drunk!
Congrats on reaching your goal!!!!!
ROCK! You did it!
You said it. Multi-state distribution is a bear.
It so happens, however, that there's a bottle shop in the state of North Carolina that happens to be one of the top 3 bottle shops in the country. It so happens that said bottle shop ships beer around the country and that it has been known to act as a kind of distributor for certain local breweries.
I have no deals worked out (because I have no product just yet), I'm just putting that information out there. :)
Question, will there be some method for backers to actually purchase the beer later? I know beer distribution (especially through mail) laws can be somewhat Draconian, and it'd be a damned shame to see all this cool stuff being made and never get to try it :)
Hey -
No, it is not. And while imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I can't say I'm too impressed with the straight cut and paste from Kickstarter here.
Thanks for pointing this out.
Just wanted to know if this is you as well? Even though the name is different?

I love this idea. I have been homebrewing for 15 years and if it wasn't for being in the Army, I would be interested in helping out. Best of luck; I look forward to reading about your adventure...
Good luck with your project. I'm sorry to say I can't contribute as my own business is in its death-throes. I am a lover of good hand-crafted ales.
Good luck,
Jim Turvin
