About this project
My name is Mark Mariano and I am a cartoon novelist that creates family friendly books that inspire and entertain. I self published my first book entitled "Happyloo: Friends, Foes and Fun" which is a collection of comic stories that feature themes of friendship and discovery. Each story is followed by a section that teaches you fun facts and cool crafts! Happyloo has been used in classrooms and has sold well at comic conventions. Now, I'm nearly finished with my second book entitled, "Flabbergast: Science Friction," but I need help raising the funds to print the book. The book will be about 130 FULL COLOR pages and I am hoping to raise $2,000.00 to help print 1,000 books.
WHAT IS FLABBERGAST?
Flabbergast is a kung-fu science adventure team and this book tells their exciting origin. To save the day, Flabbergast must battle paranormal, fantastical and otherworldly threats... but first they need to get along. This fast paced, action packed, laugh out loud comic is filled with plenty of surprises that will have the reader craving more! Found within the pages of this Cartoon Novel are zombies, robots, a cyber-punk rock assassin, a giant mecha suit, a trip to another dimension, and much more! Flabbergast is influenced by the cartoons and comics that inspire me... Ninja Turtles, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Samurai Jack, Fantastic Four, Groo, Usagi Yojimbo, the works of Robert Kirkman, and Osamu Tezuka. Creating these comics are my passion. I put my heart and soul into every panel. This past year I started teaching comic classes to kids and the response from them has fueled me even more. It is a great feeling to see my work inspire young artists and the Flabbergast book will do just that.

I’m Mark Mariano and I am a Cartoonist.
At age three, I drew a truck with my name on it on the basement floor in chalk and I’ve been drawing ever since. As a kid I drew many comics staring an assortment of characters. They were original heroes influenced by my favorite TV shows and comics. Now, not much has changed. I’m still in love with comics and cartoons, and my artwork has improved slightly from when I was three.
