Update #2: You can still donate to us!

Posted on May 17, 2010

Hi all,

We didn't reach our goal for DIY distribution costs for CHILDREN OF INVENTION, but that's OK. Our theatrical run has already actually generated a profit since we kept P&A costs so low! We're continuing to release in U.S. cities through Summer 2010, and of course, we're still selling DVDs from our site, so please support the film by buying tickets & DVDs, and continuing to spread the word. More info here: http://childrenofinvention.com/

If you would still like to donate to help us out, we no longer need help on COI, but we do need help on our new project! (For those of you who aren't familiar with film financing, we cannot apply our revenues from COI to new projects.)

We are taking tax-deductible donations for research and development on our new film, YOU'RE A BIG GIRL NOW, in which a Singaporean orphan is bought by a brothel, escapes to Hong Kong with an older prostitute, then returns to Singapore to uncover the mysteries of her childhood. This narrative feature is based on the true life story of Tze's mother.

The project has received the following honors:
* IFP No Borders Co-Production Market, 2007 & 2009
* Sundance Creative Producing Lab & Fellowship, 2009
* Tribeca All-Access Key Ingredients, 2010
* Shanghai Int'l Film Festival Co-Production Market 2010
(and another one not yet publicized)

Tze and I are attending the Shanghai Co-Production Market in mid-June to seek financing partners and other resources for the project. The market pays for hotel, but not flights. Each roundtrip ticket to Shanghai costs $1700, and a Chinese visa costs $130 each, so we will be spending a total of $3660 for this trip alone. We are also seeking additional funds for travel to another market this summer, as well as location scouting and research trips to Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong, where we hope to shoot the film.

Thanks for your support!
