Who We Are

Zack Orion is an accomplished multifaceted musician/songwriter who has dedicated his life to pouring his heart into his music.  Based in NYC, he has gained notoriety for his soulful one man band performances in countless venues across the country singing and playing banjo, harmonica, suitcase percussion, and tambourine. He has been featured in a number of local publications, including the Village Voice and BluegrassNYC. Music scene veteran Marc Orleans, proficient with a variety of instruments, has brought his talents to countless bands over the last 20 years, including projects with Drag City Record's Meg Baird, D. Charles Speer, Sunburned Hand of the Man, and Steve Gunn. Marc and his mandolin have become an indispensable element of Ardeshir. Colorado native and recent NYC transplant Scott Murphy has been playing fiddle for 18 years. He began his career playing in orchestras and chamber groups, but destiny led him to a chance encounter with Zack and Marc performing in a NYC train station. Together, they are Zack Orion and the Ardeshir Mountain Boys, creating music woven through with tones of Appalachia, the Far East, and the Moon.

The Project

From the subway to the studio! After a marathon 2-day studio session, 11 of the 12 tracks for our debut album have been recorded. Now all we need is to record our last track, mix the songs, and send them off to a mastering house so they sound nice and purty! Then we need to pay for artwork, producing CDs, and pressing a limited run of vinyl LPs. (Kickstarter backers have first access to these!) The band already has a recording studio lined up, an excellent producer/engineer, mixing house, mastering house, we just need cash to pay those fine folks. After the album is released we hope to be in a position to share our music with a wider audience, tour around the world, and spread our good vibes all over.
