About this project
We really don't hate cats, but it's tough to work every day making videos that showcase a vital American art form, only to be eclipsed in moments by a cat waking up from it's sixth nap. We know we're not alone, cats are #1 on YouTube, but hey, until we get a tabby that plays guitar, sings and writes its own songs, Music Fog promises to remain a "cat-free zone."
We're getting ready to produce another Music Marathon at Threadgill's World Headquarters during SXSW, March 14-17. As we have for the past three years, we'll record over 40 artists in four days. It's an exhilarating and exhausting free-for-all, and a world-class event for the audience in the room. Tickets are free, so you'll need to get there early if you're in Austin. Thanks to the internet, you'll also be able to watch the multi-camera live stream at home for FREE. Last year we recorded and streamed 44 artists in all. And when we're done, we take the best performances from the live broadcast, polish them a little, and post them to our website, Facebook, and our YouTube channel where they live forever. In the past, we've financed this annual event with corporate sponsorships and our own money, but this year, we don't have either. So we're turning to our fans and beyond to ask for help financing the travel, production, and logistics necessary to make the fourth Threadgill's Marathon a reality.
The performance on this video features Elliott BROOD, and was recorded at last year's Music Fog's Spring Marathon during SXSW. They are our friends, as are many artists in the Americana community. We thank them all for being supportive of Music Fog as we continue to build a tribe that are regular visitors to our web site and also support this unbelievable artistic community.
Looking forward, Music Fog hopes to continue to champion this genre of music and expand our new media horizons with possibilities, such as a music series that features videos from our ever expanding library (800+). We want to do more live streamed events and concerts, to take viewers on an adventure to places not usually on the concert & performance radar. Like maybe a performer's back yard!
Keep in mind that this music is truly an American genre. It goes ignored by most radio and traditional media, and has very few labels behind it. We want to help. We hope you do too.
