Update #27: London and Dublin Week in Hell Signings

Posted on April 22

Hey comrades!  I’m going to be doing speaking gigs/ Week in Hell signings in London and Dublin next week!  Deets below.  I’m so very excited to see you.  London is one of my favorite cities in the world, and this will be my first time in Dublin.

FREE.  Open to the public, but RSVP is mandatory.
Limited places are available - please RSVP to reception@thegrouchoclub.com

We’ll be discussing Week in Hell, art, politics, crowd-funding, elitism, and what it’s like to be locked in a hotel room.  Ana is a brilliant arts journalist and I’m so honored that she’s able to interview me.

DUBLINMolly Crabapple on Art and Entrepreneurship
Sunday, April 29, 2012
Centre for Creative Practises 15 Pembroke Street Lower Dublin 2
 Members €10 / Non-members €12.  Book tickets HERE

I’ll be talking about art, money, fame, DIY, how the future belongs to self-sufficiant multi-media mutants, and why none of the gatekeepers know what is going on.  If you ever wanted to ask me a question on how I do what I do, this is the place for it.

I can’t wait to meet you guys!  Come, tell your friends, and ask questions.  I may, possibly, be hiding some prints in seekrit locations in London and Dublin.  If I don’t forget

Gah! You would be in town on april 10th. Sadly, the chances that I'll be able to see you at some time in the future are rather greater than the chance that I'll get to see Waris Hussein again. (http://www.paleycenter.org/2012-spring-doctor-who).

Nevertheless, I hope it goes wonderfully!

Update #25: New Kickstarter- Shell Game

Posted on March 7

While I acknowlege it's absolutely unclassy to go people who have already generously given me money and say "how about some more?", I also thought you might like my new kickstarter.

Yesterday I launched Shell Game, a crowd-funded art show about the financial meltdown, on Kickstarter.  For Shell Game, I'll create 9 giant paintings about the collapses and upheavals of the last year, then rig out storefront like a gambling parlor and display them to the city and the internet for a week.  Shell Game is also an attempt to see if there's a way to fund big, time consuming art without depending on rich collectors- a way of finding Medici in the crowd.

Check it out here

Hope some of you might like it, and thank you so much for your support

Hey Molly, this looks great. Will there be any chance to get signed copies from you or your webpage directly later on ?

I might be able to buy a limited number of signed copies from IDW, but probably not, or not for a while. I'll be doing signings in NYC and London though- so you can always have a friend pick one up from me there

Update #23: Week in Hell- the Book Available for Pre-order

Posted on December 29

The Art of Molly Crabapple Volume 1: Week in Hell has a sparse little page up on Amazon for pre-order.  Our fancy Clayton Cubitt shot cover should be up in the next few weeks.  If you would like to order it, it will be shipping out at the end of March.

Note: IDW is the publisher of this book, not me, so that means stuff like shipping, pricing, and whether your local store stocks the book are out of my hands.  However, you should totally ask your local comics and book stores to stock this book.

Which brings me to: Do you own a comics store or book store?  IDW is doing solicitations for The Art of Molly Crabapple Volume 1: Week in Hell and you should totally order copies.  If you are in NYC or London or anywhere else I am traveling post-March, I will come by your store and sign all the copies and draw fetching doodles in the flyleaves.

I'm going to set up signings in London (probably) and New York

You know, LA is pretty nice all year round. Just saying.

The problem is- it costs me $500 to go to LA. I make maybe a buck per book sold. I'm nowhere near famous enough to sell 500 copies at a signing. So I'd just lose money like whoah if I did a book tour. If someone was flying me out to LA, would be a different story : )
