"Maffe Tiga" (Peanut butter stew) is a romantic dramedy about a young African woman who finds that love is the true connection between her heritage and her future. After struggling to make ends meet and relationship trouble, an unexpected letter from her grandmother reveals that generations of women in her family have faced similar challenges. Rather than giving up they pass down a secret that draws them closer to each other and to their dreams. Oumou must decide if she will draw on the wisdom of her family or try to figure life out on her own.

WHAT WE WANT TO DO:
We believe that film is a powerful medium that can can be used to communicate social injustices and to articulate relevant issues of life and relationships in under-served or unacknowledged communities. Our goal is to tell a beautiful story and make the best short film we can make with the resources available to us. With your help "Maffe Tiga"(Peanut butter stew) will be an artistic-high quality production that is engaging and accessible to both film connoisseurs and mainstream media markets.
HOW WE PLAN TO DO IT:
We plan to shoot on a Canon 5D or 7D for 3 or 4 days In Los Angeles Sometime between early February and March 2011. We will use a crew composed of dedicated film school students/alumni and our friends. We have a great Director of Photography and some great actors attached. When the film is completed we will edit it and submit it to as many film festivals as possible all around the world.
WHAT THE MONEY IS FOR:
Your contributions will help us feed the actors and the crew. Provide prop food to be used in the film.The renting of any equipment we can't get from friends or film schools. Makeup and wardrobe for the actors, and to complete shooting the film. If you help us raise more than our minimum $2000 goal, The rest of the money will go to editing the film in post production, scoring,color correction and submission to film festivals.
