About this project
Project 20 Remix invites 20 of Baltimore's most interesting, accomplished, and innovative musicians to contribute a 20-second recording of their playing. These 20 recordings are given to 12 remix artists, who create a derivative work based on the samples.
We have musicians from across Baltimore's classical, modern classical, free jazz, experimental, rock, and hip-hop communities contributing recordings and recognizable names from Baltimore Club as well as artists working in both electronica and modern classical music to remix the samples. Additionally, Baltimore hip-hop duo The Get Em Mamis will be contributing lyrics to one of the tracks. Totally cool.
The result will be a CD benefiting the Contemporary Museum's Mobtown Modern Music Series.
Funding for this project will be used for the following: - an honorarium for the remixers - production costs for the CD - to throw a killer CD release party in September 2011
