WHO WE ARE

Mobius Trio came together with two very specific goals in mind: to collaborate with great composers and to create the guitar music we were interested in hearing. We had all noticed that guitar ensemble music, especially for trio, has been written almost exclusively by guitarists, in styles that are, for the most part, very typically "guitar". We all love guitar music, but we wanted something more.

We're in the process of putting out our debut album, Last Light, titled for the eponymous piece we commissioned from composer Dan Becker. The album is incredibly exciting, also containing commissioned pieces from Sahba Aminikia, Garrett Shatzer, and Danny Clay (composer website links below!). 

Recording and releasing a high quality album is a lot cheaper than it once was, but it still costs a lot of money for an ensemble that's fresh out of the gates. We have the incredible, amazing Sergio Assad and Marc Teicholz as producers; we're working at a top-notch studio (Studio SQ); and we've got a recording engineer, Justin Sachs, whom we really trust. We've also got a brilliant graphic designer, Stephen Rollick, designing stunning physical CDs.

We're really lucky, and all of those things are really great, but none of them are cheap. We need your help to put out an album of the highest quality!

WHAT WE'VE DONE

In our two years of existence, Mobius Trio has commissioned more than a dozen composers, covering a broad range of musical styles, from Minimalism to Post-Minimalism to Post-Post-Minimalism. All joking aside, we've been incredibly fortunate to work with an extremely diverse, successful, and passionate suite of composers. 

We've also been lucky enough to perform all over the West Coast and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

WHAT WE WILL DO (WITH YOUR HELP)

As mentioned before, we have a few very specific, rather costly, but totally worthwhile expenses in putting together this album. These include our brilliant producers, a world-class recording studio, a capable and tireless engineer, and production of thousands of physical copies of Last Light. 

All of the funds we receive through Kickstarter will go towards these concrete expenses, and anything we receive above our goal will be put towards future projects, of which there are many. We're constantly commissioning new composers (upcoming collaborations with Samuel Carl Adams, Adrian Knight, and Frank Wallace!), so any additional funds will be put to very good use.
