What are Pride Pants?
They're exactly what they sound like: pants that show your pride! The idea started because I wanted to be able to share my pride in a new way - by wearing it, loud and proud. Pride bracelets, tattoos and jewelry are all nice, but they're subtle. Not Pride Pants. They're meant to attract attention, turn heads, and let people know you're here and you're queer (or love queers!).
How do I get a pair?
By pledging on this page today! At the $35 level you send us your waist/leg sizes and we'll send you a pair. At the $45 level you send us an old pair of your pants and we'll transform them and send them back. The cost difference is for shipping, which we take care of in both directions.
We can also do Pride Shorts if they're cotton or denim based! If you'd like more than one pair, just double, triple, etc. your pledge and send us a note through Kickstarter.
We have to meet our funding goal for any of this to happen, so don't be afraid to pledge. If we're even $1 short of our funding goal, we don't get ANY funds.
How do you make them?
Well that's our secret!
What we can tell you is that in an effort to support our local communities and economies, we only make Pride Pants from used or recycled jeans from thrift or resale shops OR from the pants you send us. So yes, you can get a perfect fit by sending us your pair!
Each pair of Pride Pants is custom-painted by hand with only a little help from some paint tools to speed up the application process. Nothing's being sent through an assembly line or factory. It's all manually done one-by-one in our own, small warehouse (that we're borrowing from a family member, saving us a lot in rent!)
Because each pair is custom-painted by hand, it takes a lot of time, energy, and of course, money, but that's what makes them unique and that's why we're asking for your support.
What's the money for?
We know that for most of the country, the pride season is behind them, but here in Texas, it's just gearing up for Austin and Dallas, with pride festivals on back-to-back weekends in September. We're seeking support from people like you to help us fund a Pride Pants booth at both Dallas and Austin pride festivals on Sept. 16 & 23. If we meet our Kickstarter goal, we'll be able to cover the costs of:
- reserving booths at the Dallas and Austin pride festivals
- cheap lodging in Austin (we're based in Dallas, holla!)
- purchasing materials and equipment for painting and heatsetting pants
- purchasing a wide selection of pants from local thrift shops to transform and sell at the booths during Dallas and Austin pride festivals
- shipping your pants to us and back to you if you pledge at the $45 or higher level and want your own pair of custom-painted Pride Pants.
If the festivals are a success, we'll work next to launch PridePants.net where you can buy our pants or send us your own. By next summer, we want to see Pride Pants at every pride festival across the world!

Why support Pride Pants?
For us, seeing the progress of LGBT rights just in the last three years alone has been inspiring, and we're ready to relaunch Pride Pants and have every intention of succeeding. Because despite advancements in gay rights, the country is still grappling with bullying and discrimination. So what better way to let everyone know where you stand and what you support than with the pants you wear?
We know there's a lot of organizations out there doing amazing, tireless and often thankless work, and we support them and encourage people to fund them. But we wanted to create something fun and fashionable that would be empowering for ourselves and others as they celebrate pride. When you put these on, everyone will know who wears the pants!
What if I'm not LGBT?
Pride Pants are for anyone and everyone, from our most ardent activists to our straight supporters to people who just want to look cool and turn heads. They're for anyone who has felt different, outcast, strange, awkward, or weird. Call them rainbow pants, Pride Pants, happy pants, whatever you fancy. Like love and acceptance, there's no limitations on who should wear them.
Because the best thing about Pride Pants is that they are truly as unique as you. Each pair is custom-painted by hand, so no two pairs will ever turn out alike. So be proud and be you. Wear your pride.

YES! If it's cotton-based, we can paint it! The brightness of the colors will vary with the fabric, so send us lighter jeans or shorts for a more striking look.

No problem! We've recently added new pledge levels for this. $35 domestic and $50 int'l. Let us know your size and length and we'll do our best to find a pair that's a perfect fit.

YES! If you want more than one pair either sent to you or that you send to us to be painted, just double, triple, etc the pledge level and send us a note. We'll add a note to your pledge and take care of the rest!
