About this project
This is a pretty simple concept. Bring lots of light up tutu's to burning man.
This is a continuation of a smaller project I've been doing at Firefly, the New England Regional Burn, for the the past 3 years called DIY Costumefest. It started with giving away the supplies to about 50 tutu's and has progressed into over 100 tutus PLUS led Christmas lights along with a 3 day costuming and crafting bonanza.
I'm going to leave the costuming and crafting supplies home and focus just on lights and tutus. This is a great way for newbies to feel involved and to make themselves more fabulous. Creating something with your hands is meditative, relaxing and gives you a chance to really connect to something. Plus there is always the problem of darkwads. Problem solved for at least 500 people!!
This project has been tested on people from as young as 3. It's simple, easy and fun. I pre cut all the fabric so all the participants have to do is sit down and tie their tulle onto the elastic waistband. I have never had a person leave without having a ton of fun!
The funds raised will go to cover tulle (3,000 yards will be needed), elastic, led Christmas lights and tools to cut the fabric.
If you donate more than $25 you will receive the supplies to create your own tutu. This way you can give the gift of tutus and still have something awesome for yourself!
