Singer/Songwriter, Mike Murray, teams up with Taylor Maxwell for a 2011 Fall tour in the southeast USA to promote their new records.
Hi Friends!
My name is Mike Murray and I am a US based singer/songwriter. I grew up in Kalispell, Montana, but spent the last 7+ years of my life living in Australia working for an NGO. During that time I was able to visit many different countries around the world and offer assistance to some of the world’s most poor and vulnerable. Cradling AIDS orphans in my arms in South Africa, giving music lessons to children rescued from human trafficking in Southeast Asia, and singing songs to the hospitalized in Papua New Guinea are just a few of the experiences that have shaped my life, my music and my most recent full-length release, International.
I am hitting the road this October to promote International and tell the stories of those who inspired it by playing intimate acoustic style shows around the southeast USA. The thing that excites me most about this tour is that I won't be doing it alone. A great singer/songwriter and a good friend of mine, Taylor Maxwell, will be joining me on the road to promote his recent full-length release, Father [& Mother]. We will be playing our new songs together as a duo seeking to provide an intimate and inspiring concert event. The tour will start on October 7 and end on November 9th, taking us from Colorado through Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and finally Georgia.
Being that Taylor and I are both independent artists, not supported by a record label, we must manage and fund every detail of this tour ourselves. Though we will be on a tight budget, staying with family and friends when possible and living off of burritos, we project the cost of the tour to be around $6,000. That cost includes such items as, airfares, fuel, food, lodging, stage props, utilities, equipment, Kickstarter reward fulfillment, and the production of merchandise stock.* Again, as independent artists, Taylor and I are unable to support the entire tour budget out-of-pocket and have therefore decided to use Kickstarter to help fund a portion of our overall budget; $4,000.
Kickstarter is a funding platform that allows artists to offer rewards to their "backers" (those who make a financial pledge to their project). Taylor and I have come up with a list of unique rewards packages that you will see listed below each funding option on the right side of this page. If this project is something you would like to support, and if any of those rewards packages catch your eye, we invite you to become one of our "backers" by making a pledge to our Fall 2011 Tour.
If, on the date of our project deadline, we have reached or exceeded our project goal, your credit or debit card will be charged for the amount of your pledge, we will receive your pledge, you will receive your reward, and we will hit the road! If, however, our financial goal is not met by the project deadline, your card will never be charged, and we will hit the drawing board for plan B!

Taylor and I will record a 5 song Christmas EP just for you in personalized custom packaging.
