can you guys give us a date of when you will update for iOS or windows?
plz be soon (crosses fingers)
Creator Ben Thomson on May 17, 2012
I advise you to read this http://howto.wired.com/wiki/Fund_Your_Dream_With_the_Perfect_Kickstarter_Pitch
From my opinion, there was not enough communication to Kickstarter which is what caused the project to fail. You basically have to say "For the next X days, 1 person is the new community manager dedicated to Kickstarter". Without that, it just won't happen as we saw. A great game idea, great pitch etc but not enough commitment to the process. I know as a small team, it would have been very difficult to drag someone off the project. But also think about a girlfriend, wife, best friend etc who could have volunteered their time. Good luck for whatever you decide to do next!
Creator Petruza on May 17, 2012
Ok, kickstarter was good to generate awareness, but we don't need it to fund Deepworld.
Where do I pay my subscription?
Creator Sanhueza on May 17, 2012
I'm sorry the funding didn't succeed for you this time. I really believe that this is a worthwhile game. I hope you guys bring Deepworld back to Kickstarter in another month or so, with perhaps a more modest funding goal. Good luck!
Creator paulcpapp on May 17, 2012
4 mins to go :( PLEASE update us all very soon as to the future of this project! How can we help and what can we do to get our hands on this game!
Creator Nathan Lam on May 17, 2012
Hello everyone, I would just like to say thank for developing this amazing looking game. I made the $40 pledge, wished I could have made more, but unfortunately funds are running low. I am looking forward to the release of this game as well as the updates.
See everyone in the forums :D
Nathan
Creator L. M. on May 17, 2012
Have upped to 50. I hope to see you make it in the next few hours, guys. But for what it's worth, I eagerly await the release of this game either way.
Creator Ben Thomson on May 17, 2012
Have upped to $40, hope it helps/ Would love to see this get funded as it fills a niche that Terraria and Minecraft missed - persistent hosted worlds! Plus with Steampunk, I mean how is this not getting money thrown at the screen I just don't get it :)
Creator Sam D Gregory on May 17, 2012
Good to know that this game won't die entirely if the drive fails. I'll be following this with interest either way.
Creator Dale Cusack on May 17, 2012
Upped my pledge from $15 to $40, fingers crossed for this awesome game
Creator Jeffrey Pearl on May 16, 2012
I was quite impressed by those supporters who upped their pledge. I have now upped ours by $25.00. It may not look like they will make it with just 16 hours to go as of this writing, but the power of numbers can make the difference. If all supporters could come up with just $25 more each by tomorrow at 3:45 pm ET, the guys will have made it. This hard working and ultra creative team needs a boost to get to the finish line. Do it for them--and for Arnold (see the video)!
Creator Kari Salminen on May 16, 2012
Upped my pledge from $15 to $80 (+$10 for international shipping). Hopefully we'll get to $20k as this project seems rather interesting to me (having played Terraria).
Creator Tom Pravetz on May 16, 2012
I went from $25 to $40. I'm pulling for you guys.
Creator paulcpapp on May 16, 2012
I just changed my $5 pledge to $25.... I encourage others to do likewise!
Creator HandyMan Studios on May 16, 2012
We just wanted to support other takes on the sandbox genre, wanted to let you know we care and would like to see different takes on how it is done. Good luck guys!
Creator Mike Laurence on May 16, 2012
@Philip We absolutely will figure something out! We're still making progress on the game and should be ready for our supporters here soon :)
Creator Yuchen Wang on May 16, 2012
dang, hope this succeeds!
Creator Philip Arpin on May 15, 2012
Since this project will most likely not get funded, is there a way to donate our money some other way? and still reap the benefits listed here?
Creator mischa yampolsky on May 14, 2012
sorry about this, but with only 68 hours to go i dont think your will make it
i did put in $25 sooo ya i did my part
Creator Sam D Gregory on May 14, 2012
I just found this. I'm hoping it can succeed; it looks good. I play Minecraft and Terraria, but a new entry in the genre is always welcome.
Creator Sanhueza on May 14, 2012
Plugged the game on Twitter a bit. I hope you guys succeed with this game, it looks awesome!
Creator Glenn Dierick on May 10, 2012
Halfway there and 6 days to go. 6 days to spread the word and to make sure all the pledges go to Bytebin Studios!
Creator Henrique Lima on May 10, 2012
I've been playing around with Quinn's Alpaca engine, which made me want to support his work so I didn't think twice about backing this. The game does look awesome though, can't wait to try it.
Creator L. M. on May 9, 2012
@Yuchen Wang: Yeah, fair point.
Creator Yuchen Wang on May 8, 2012
@Lawrence Madsen(kickstarter could really use a reply feature lol) I try, but there are some well known people on youtube who would be much more effective than just anyone at promoting new indie games.
Creator L. M. on May 8, 2012
In addition to what these guys are already doing, of course.
Creator L. M. on May 8, 2012
One of the points of crowd-sourcing is to spread the word ourselves. When you support a project like this, you kind of volunteer yourself as an advertiser.
Creator Yuchen Wang on May 7, 2012
There are quite alot of youtube persona that will feature indie games. You might want to explore some of those options.
Creator Mike Laurence on May 7, 2012
@Peter We're trying, believe us! :) We will have new project updates very shortly (e.g., tonight). The reddit idea is good, we will pursue some grassroots forums like that soon!
Creator Peter S on May 7, 2012
I'd suggest stirring up some interest / publicity for this - maybe by coming out with some new updates, and asking us all to post this on reddit or someplace. The pledge goal isn't too high (in contrast, Republique is about 200k short with 3 days left, and they're really pushing to make their goal), so with not too much effort, I would guess that reaching 20k should be pretty doable.
Yeah, the push to hit the 20k funding goal could wait a few days, but why put it off? Trying to hit 20k with even less days left would just be more stressful. ^_^;
Creator Yuchen Wang on May 6, 2012
Backing this, I hope the windows version comes out soon!
Heres to hoping you expand the game with monsters and weapons :D
Creator Mike Laurence on May 5, 2012
@mischa and @Ben, we're going to throw in an extra copy with the already existing $25 tier, but we can't change the reward info ourselves (we have to have kickstarter do it b/c people have already pledged that tier.) We'll throw in a third copy at the $40 level, too :-)
Creator mischa yampolsky on May 5, 2012
i just HAVE to ask . . . why haven't you added the "Pledge $30 or more" for an extra copy suggested by "Ben Thomson" you said
@Ben, great idea! It shall be so :)
soooo ya
i would also pledge more, if i could get another copy of the game!
just wondering
Creator Deadyapples666 on May 2, 2012
I'm backing you guys. Nice work! I love these types of games. :)
Creator Mike Laurence on April 27, 2012
@Ben, great idea! It shall be so :)
Creator Ben Thomson on April 27, 2012
Hi guys. I've backed at the $15 level, and would probably go to the $25-$30 ish if you would consider a Co-op bundle. It fits in really well with the idea of giving worlds for friends to enjoy, why not provide an extra copy for said friends!
Creator Joshua Flowers on April 25, 2012
Pledged for you guys. Hoping to see a PC release sooner than later
Creator Mike Laurence on April 25, 2012
@Mads, we're still optimistic about Kickstarter success :)
No matter what, Deepworld won't disappear - we've been working hard for six months and we're not going to stop! We will be selling the game not too far down the line either way.
And thanks for sending more people our way! :D
Creator Mads Cordes on April 25, 2012
What happens if the project isn't founded? D:
Would you start a new kickstarter, or something? Anyway I would always love to pledge this project :D (Even got two more win-users to pledge too, after the latest update >:D)
Anyway (again?), remember to tweet anything :D
Creator Mike Laurence on April 25, 2012
@Peter, Feel free to tell anyone about the game, of course! We'd love Terraria players to come take a look (in fact we've already gotten excellent user interface feedback from a big Terraria player.)
We've actually never played Terraria (stopped using boot camp once Mac ports became more common), but we hear it's great fun!
Creator Christopher Curtis on April 25, 2012
Hey, the game is looking great guys, best of luck and can't wait to play it!
Creator Peter S on April 25, 2012
I would think that a lot of Mac Terraria players would like to support this. Terraria was never officially supported for Mac, so a fan ended up making a custom wrapper (http://www.terrariaonline.com/threads/terraria-mac-wrapper.15236/), which wasn't perfect; currently it's not on-par with the latest PC version (for technical reasons, I think), and Terraria's developer has gone to do other stuff for months/years :(
In comparison, this will be first a Mac game? That must sound wonderful.
Of course, not just Mac but all Terraria players might be eager to back this. Would it be possible/allowed to advertise Deepworld on their forums?
Creator Logan on April 25, 2012
Also PC beta please. Mac is a lot smaller crowd to cater to for games.
I am the kind of guy that will never own a mac... >_>
Creator Logan on April 25, 2012
I will volunteer myself for android testing!
Creator Mike Laurence on April 25, 2012
Thanks a ton! We can definitely use all the help we can get :D
Creator Robert on April 25, 2012
thank you for making my day and good luck, i also told a forum about the game for you guys!
Creator Mike Laurence on April 25, 2012
Yep, PC is included too :)
Creator Robert on April 25, 2012
O.o
Does that include PC as well when it eventually comes out ?!?
cause you sir now have more money!
Creator Mike Laurence on April 25, 2012
Yep, your membership to the game is cross-platform, so you'll be able to play on iOS via this kickstarter!
Creator Robert on April 25, 2012
can you clear up for me if backing this at the free game level would get me a copy on IOS i would be more then happy to contribute more to this awesome looking game if that is the case
