Update #2: Launch Party & Video!
Update #1: Updates!
Before we dive into the project update, we want to thank all of your for your support of this endeavor. Your financial backing is great, but what's more important to us is the statement you're making by donating: you appreciate the gravity of the impending Student Loan Crisis, and you believe in our ability to educate others to do something about it. For that, we can only say thank you.
STATUS OF VIDEO
Good news everyone– we've started dreaming up our animation with the clever folks at The Cultivated Word! The script is coming along really nicely, especially when it's read with the song we've selected playing in the background, which is very fortuitous-sounding. Right now, we're focusing on striking the right balance between heavy facts and inspirational passages. We've also been presented with some mockups for the visual style of the piece; it's going to be very hard to choose because they all look so good!
EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS FOR SKILLSHARE
A lot has been going on at Skillshare besides this video, and we wanted to share the good news with you. First of all, we officially launched our alpha site, http://skillshare.com, at the Feast on Education salon this past Friday. Our founder Michael gave a great talk about refocusing education on learning, which was very well received. Also very exciting: Michael's recent article, "Why College is Overrated," got republished on GOOD Magazine's site! Read it here: http://www.good.is/post/why-college-is-overrated/ . We also have our first few Skillshares coming up, including a class on tournament poker taught by Michael. We'd love for you all to attend!
Thanks again for getting us this far. We are closing in on our goal, but with only a few days to go, we could use your help. Please tell one friend about our project. Just one! Explain the issue to them, tell them about Skillshare, and show them our project page on Kickstarter. Get your friends involved in our community of learners!
Happy Thanksgiving to all! And ask yourself: what do you want to learn? Better yet, what will you teach?
