Pedro's Story is an adventure story with heart and humor. It is a tropical tale of life, love, and power.
Pedro's Story began with an idea between Sean O'Connor and Will Rodriguez around 2006. The story takes place during the early Twentieth Century with the beautiful Caribbean Sea and several Latin American countries in the backdrop. Within the Mangled Stare universe, these events predate the current comic strips you can read on mangledstare.com and will follow the life of Pedro Mangulario as he struggles to become the newest Mighty Mangler. Pedro will have to learn the difference between responsibility and greed while he learns to wield his budding powers.
The entire story is retold by the current Mangler, Mimo Mangulario, while he is out with his two sons. They will follow the story as the reader discovers that not every Mangler in history has been a superhero.
This graphic novel will be a stand-alone story that won't require the reader to be familiar with the current comics on the Mangled Stare website. Long-time readers of the comic strip, however, will enjoy a few cameos and nods to the online community. We plan to use these funds to cover the marketing, advertising, distributing, and printing of the graphic novel when it is completed. We have already finished half of the book and are wrapping up the other half. We appreciate your support and well wishes, readers. Thank you for everything and helping to make this dream a reality!
