RE:boot is the 5th official release of independent electronica band, Midiboy.

Midiboy has been making and producing music since 2000. We have released 4 albums so far, and are putting on the finishing touches to RE:boot, our 5th project.

In order to do this, we need your assistance!

Our first project, Midi-life Crisis, was released as an Mp3.com Exclusive (back when mp3.com was an indie music website). It lacked direction, but sparked an electronic musical revolution (in our own minds).

I soon was able to build an all digital recording studio and we got to work on what we like to call, Our First Good Album, Stating The Obvious. It was a semi-autobiographical electronica concept album that was based on a modern day prodigal story. The album attracted the attention of quite a few high profile music magazines, as well as clubs in Europe and Australia. Many people compared the album to a cross between Depeche Mode and even Pink Floyd (mainly for the concept).

It was not long after that, we got to work on our second album, Synthpops.  Since Stating The Obvious ended up being a darker project, we wanted to lighten the mood for Synthpops.  While it wasn't a concept album, it still had an obvious theme of making the best out of what we were given in life.  Synthpops sold out in less than a year and had 5 top ten songs on an Indie New York radio station as well as several online radio stations. The song, I'm A Pop Star was #1 for 3 months. To this day, it is still the song Midiboy is most known for.

The next album was Rejuvenate, which melded together the aggressiveness of Stating The Obvious and the hook-laden pop styles of Synthpops. By this time, we had adopted the musical genre Rocktronica. Every song on the album was centered around the need for God's mercy and grace. Some of the songs had satirical foundations (Hell Is For Good People), while some of the songs took a more lighthearted look at life. (The Eraser).

After Rejuvenate, it was quite a few years before RE:boot was birthed as life got very busy for the Midiboy crew with various personal and professional obligations. We noticed that a lot of movies we grew up with were getting "rebooted."  Due to many changes that took place in our lives, we decided Midiboy needed to be rebooted.  So, we RE:booted. This album has taken our self-adopted Rocktronica style to the next level with strong lyrical direction, as well as many digital advancements and upgraded equipment in the studio.  The songs you will hear on RE:boot will fit perfectly next to any modern day electronica that you may hear.

So far, there are 13 full length songs as well as several instrumental leader tracks.  One song is a cover of a Styx song from their Album Kilroy Was Here (Double Life). For as little as a $10 pledge, you can receive the new album in digital format before the official release date of the CD (which should be mid-summer). For only $25, you will be able to receive a signed copy of the album, an Official Midiboy RE:boot T-shirt and the digital release (The digital release, will arrive before your CD).

But, if you are a true fan of Midiboy, $50 will get you your name mentioned in a track on the RE:boot album as well as on the liner notes.

Of course, if you want to take your star fandom to the next level, who is Midiboy to stand in your way?  If you have dreams of being an executive producer on a cutting edge Rocktronica project, such as RE:boot, then a mere $500 will afford you that privilege.  You will be given the power to choose a cover song that will appear on the album*.  There is only room for 2 such fans, so, you better hurry before times runs out.

* Cover song must be mutually agreed upon as specified in the pledge paragraph.

FAQ

  • Believe me, if we go over, that will only help make the product better. Better packaging, more CDs pressed,  more distribution, higher quality artwork...But let's get to $650 before we start dreaming too big!

  • The Pre-Release had a dual purpose.  It ended up in the hands of some people that I wanted to hear it so they could spread the word, but it also became the copy I used to determine what needed to be perfected before the official release. The track order will likely be different, as it is likely there will be at least one additional track (as per the pledge amounts). You'll get the official RE:boot cover art, as well as the liner notes, (which will likely include a little bonus thing for you to discover), and the CD will be mixed differently and will be remastered.
