Tasty Minstrel Games was founded in early 2009 by Michael Mindes for the publishing of hobby board games.
Our mission: "To heal the world by providing games that strengthen family unity, communication, and love"
They have brought to the market the beloved games Homesteaders, Terra Prime, Train of Thought, Eminent Domain, Belfort, Jab: Real-Time Boxing, Martian Dice and more are coming.
As long as we can continue to bring great games to you, we will do that.
I'm with Matt. May is over in 2 days. Has it arrived in your warehouse yet?
Any updates? May is almost over.
Hey Michael, if you want to save on shipping I would be willing to arrange to meet in person to obtain my copy. :)
@Albert - At this time, it is too late. There were multiple notifications about it including direct messages on Kickstarter.
Can I add $5 to mine to get the 4 player expansion?
This will begin shipping when it arrives in our warehouse. Everything according to my understanding is already on a boat moving to the USA.
I can't remember, have we done the survey yet for selecting our rewards and giving our shipping addresses?
Have there been any updates about when this will begin shipping?
Everybody has opinions about what is "pretty". I, personally, am glad they did not go with a white tile. I think the tiles look great as they are.
To each their own.
People like pretty games, even if they aren't the best, and people dont like to play games that may be great, but aren't very pretty.
Id love to see them move to a sharply defined white tile rather than bakelite.
If not, then at least match the white ink to the bakelite.
@Drew I've noticed that the factory samples seem to more closely resemble the original Hive pieces; the bakelite seems to tend toward that off-white colour when I see it used for a game piece (see Bananagrams for another good example of this, or older pool balls). This works quite easily for these kinds of games due to the colour scheme of their parts; since Bananagrams is simply black ink on tile, there is no white to compare against, and since Hive uses tiles of all different colours, there still is no white to compare to. However, given the use of white ink on the factory sample black tiles, it creates that contrast in this particular game.
I suspect it would cost additional funds to move from an uncoloured bakelite to a sharply defined white, but it would improve the visual appeal of the game, along the lines of Hive Carbon. Alternatively, changing the dye colour on the black tiles to a matching off-white would also bring a more uniform appearance to the game (of course, then colour inks would need to be adjusted to more closely resemble that tint). Both would make the game more visually consistent, and would likely serve to improve the perceived visual appeal. Whether that is a viable option at this stage is of course to be determined by TMG.
In any case, looking forward to playing this game as more than a P&P.
@drew... actually now that you mention it.... i agree.
Here is what I dont like about the factory samples, the white tiles are not the same shade white as the white ink in the black pieces. This makes them look dingy, dirty, second hand. One thing that made Hive visually appealing was they nailed this. As you can see here : http://www.coolstuffinc.com/images/Products/Misc%20Art/Gen%20Four%20Two%20Games/TCI_HiveCarbon.jpg
The game sounds great, but quality components are key too. Id love to see that detail tweaked, either match the white ink to the white tile color, or match the white tile to the white ink.
Those are my 2 cents.
No bag previews are available yet.
CONGRATS! This is pretty exciting to see I can't wait to play the game
Any design previews for the travel bag available?
Any updates on their way as to what is happening? I like to be kept in the design process loop!
Also will the international orders be marked as a "gift" for customs purposes? As we have not purchased a product, mearly being gifted something for supporting a project? Also can postage be removed from the total listed?
It would make a big difference to Customs charges.... which tbh i forgot about when i pledged..... for example in the UK $50 value listed will cost roughly £12 ($19-$20) extra on top at our end.
Ok, it took me a while to get a picture, but I've shaved my head as promised. Here is the thread on BGG that includes the picture: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/8480959#8480959
Thanks again everyone for making For The Win possible!
I second that and as we are "funding" not actually "Buying" I do nto se a problem with it being marked as gift
Looking forward to playing the game! Congrats on a highly successful Kickstarter!
@Stewart - 15 people did not choose to get rewards.
or even better marked as a gift as well! UK Customs hammer you :/
It says there are 1313 backers, but if you add up all of the backers below, you only get 1298. Where are the last 15 people? (I did this to see what the average price per unit was...$13.39 for those curious.)
Can that be the value minus the $10 shipping?
@Stefan - I will be making a declaration of what you paid.
Just had a thought, What is going on the customs declarations for the international buyers?
I hadn't considered that, now im worried im going to get hit with another $20 worth of customs duty.
@Loren The Triple was added after the others. Once someone has pledged at a level, the words can't be edited. If you pledged at the Six Shooter level, you'll get 6x the rewards.
Damien, the Print and play files are in update 1 and the rules are on the project home page.
If you edit the PDF you can make the colours whatever you want. I have made a very nice Red, Yellow, Blue and Green 4 player set myself.
I'll admit, I didn't think it was going to hit $25k...and here we are at $31k! Congrats!
Will the print and play bonus tiles & rules be available on the page somewhere or sent via email
Thanks for all of the support and the wild ride over the last couple of days!
@Mark & @Chris - A short break yes. Next up is Ground Floor, and there is a little more preparation to do for that.
Anybody that pledged $15 will be getting the bonuses in the $5 and $10 slots.
Also, those that get bonuses will get one bonus per copy they are receiving.
Thanks guys!
@Sean - Correct. The reward tier is only used to determine the number of copies you are getting. As long as the amount of money you are giving is $15 or more, than every copy you are getting based on your reward tier will each get the extras.
@Todd - From what I understand, if the amount of your pledge is $15 or more, you get overfunding bonuses.
So if we originally came in at the $5 pledge, but decided to add more money later, yet didn't move out of the $5 reward category, do we still get the overfunding bonuses?
@karl: I did the same...going from a $10 pledge (paying $15) to a $40 (saving $1.67 on my copy) while getting two others to go thirdsies. I love this distribution model.
Anyone else think it is amusing that in the end there are 2 $5s open and 12 $10s?
I mean i know I made one of those holes, but must have been last minute switching.
Brilliant! Didn't think we would get there! Can't wait!
Nice work everyone, glad the project hit the $25k mark.
We have to get that photo permanently in The Hotness.
Actually... I found the original quote and it was 30K. That's what I get for betting against the awesomeness of all you backers. I'll have to post some pics on BGG when it's done.
"How about this, if we get to $30,000, I'll shave my head. If we get to $50k, I'll shave my entire body. " http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/761443/stretch-bonus
The extra player tiles are an awesome addition, almost as awesome as involuntary sudden baldness (next time, Eskue... next time!!!)
Wow! I'm totally blown away. Thanks so much to everyone who was involved, it's been a wild and awesome ride.
So glad I got in on this one right at the start at the $5 level so I could later up the excitement by managing my pledge to $15! Still a good bargain.
@Benoit You grabbed my spot, as I moved up to 60. Aren't you glad?
There. Moved my pledge from 5 to 15$ :)
" And there was much rejoicing."
..."yeah!"
oops, that's www.starwind.net
:/
Might I suggest checking out www.starwind.com for travel bags.
They are Gencon regulars, selling embroidered dicebags.
