About this project
Good day! My name is Michael James Mette and I'm a Catholic Musician and speaker from St. Louis, MO. I'm working on a my second album with the goal of inspiring a new generation of believers to fall in love with Jesus. Most of the songs are dealing with the themes of Vatican II and I want to help young people unpack that theology. The working title of the project is "We are Church".
I've been writing and co-writing songs all summer. The project started with 40 songs, and has been narrowed down to 17. The current plan is to produce an album with at least 10 songs, based on funding. Each individual song requires a substantial amount of studio time and production.
And now, I'm asking for your help with this project. The way that kickstarter works is that it's all-or-nothing. The goal is $5,000, although this is only a small part of the project's budget. This gives a head start on the project, which has a total estimated cost of $20,000. Those expenses include studio time, artwork, promotion, and the printing of the actual CDs, download cards, and songbooks. If you are able to exceed that goal, we'll be able to include more songs.
An important part of this ministry is have the ability to give away downloads of the songs. That way after each event, the youth can take home and listen to this music that reinforces the message and their faith. Your support makes that a reality.
I have also spent a lot of time designing really cool rewards to encourage your support. They start as little as $5 for a hand made, hand prayed rosary from a member of our family. There are also paintings, acoustic covers of your favorite song delivered via YouTube all the way up to the baby grand piano that I wrote many of the songs on. Look below to a list of the incentives.
Kickstarter makes it really easy to donate using your credit card. And remember, it only charges you if the goal of $5,000 is met. The deadline is November 30th.
I realize that not everyone is in a position to be able to give money. I've worked hard to make it really attractive to donate, and every dollar helps. That being said, the most important thing that you can do is to pray for the success of this project. Also, if you could send a link to this project on to someone else, that really helps out.
