Beijing Taxi: World Premiere at SXSW 2010 (March 12-21)!
Dear friends and supporters,
I am extremely excited to announce that BEIJING TAXI is one of only 8 films selected in the Documentary Feature Competition category at SXSW 2010!! We have been racing to prepare for our WORLD PREMIERE in Austin in March!

Born in Beijing, China just after the Cultural Revolution, Miao Wang grew up with the last remnants of a pre-modernized Communist China. She immigrated to the US in 1990. Her first documentary as a director and producer, YELLOW OX MOUNTAIN, has screened at numerous festivals, received a Best Short Film Award, broadcast on WNET Thirteen, and is distributed by Filmaker’s Library. In the past she worked as an assistant at Maysles Films, edited a feature-length PBS documentary and programs for National Geographic. Miao has a B.A. in economics from the University of Chicago and a M.F.A. in design and film from the Parsons School of Design.
Beijing Taxi is Miao’s first feature length documentary. Miao has received a grant from the Sundance Documentary Fund, the Jerome Foundation, and NYSCA, for BEIJING TAXI. She has been selected to participate in Tribeca All Access, IFP Filmmaker’s Lab, the IFP Market, as well as the DocuClub screening series. Currently she splits her time between New York and Beijing.
