Making something very new out of very old things.
You might say that I've had an alter ego for the past 20 years.
Outside the trappings of developing a perfectly acceptable career and starting a family, something completely irrational and inconvenient has survived beneath the surface: the heart and soul of an artist.I've been making art however and wherever I can - usually late at night when everyone else in my house is sleeping. I've shown in galleries here and there,
but I've never felt like I've been able to make the leap I've been dreaming of. The definition of that leap is hard to specify exactly, but it certainly involves getting art out of my garage and into people's homes.
I have the opportunity to take that leap now.
For the first time in twenty years, I am developing a body of work that I feel is strong enough to submit to the world. There is a juried show coming up in that I intend to enter, and the entry deadline is this spring. I'd also like to get this work into galleries. Both ventures involve expensive framing, and I could use some financial help.
My project is to print and frame three images out of a growing digital series entitled “Ephemerality”. The series is born from my love of all things old, tarnished, scratched and beautiful, taking found images and making something new out of them.
Rewards will be your choice of prints from the series in various sizes and quantities, from postcards to large-scale prints. Everything but the postcards will be printed on professional-grade metallic photo paper.
First, crank up Canned Heat and recreate the Vote for Pedro dance from Napoleon Dynamite. Then, I will assess how best to use whatever is available. If there is enough funding to frame additional work I will do that. Otherwise the money will go towards purchasing additional prints for a future Etsy shop.
These are the best places to keep in touch:

Once the project is funded (please oh please), Kickstarter will enable me to send you a form that you can fill out with your address and selection(s). That way it's all managed via Kickstarter instead of Post-it's on my desk - everybody wins!
International backers are welcome! If you are from outside the U.S., a couple extra bucks would be appreciated to help with the additional cost of shipping. Otherwise, I've got it covered.
Curl up in the fetal position and listen to Dark Side of the Moon in bed. This unsightly scene can be avoided - help me spread the word and meet the funding goal!
