We've launched an exciting new project of our own! Introducing the Kickstarter app for iPhone!

Funded! This project successfully raised its funding goal on January 6.

Jon, nothing official yet, but there is still a chance! We really want to include the nightmare content too and are looking for alternative ways to fund it without delaying the core game. Also, we will have a new update for y'all any day now, we're just waiting for approval for use of some images.

    2. Fb_profile_picture.small

Creator Jon Uzel on May 5

So, having not seen anything along these lines, is there still a chance either in the main game or DLC for the nightmare? Of course, I know where your priorities need to lie right now, but I so want those Welsh speaking Indians to guide me.

Hey Light, thanks for checking in! We are posting an update next week about our trip to NY historical society, as well as our progress on the game design, art, and music. Our plan is to continue to update about once a month.

Heyas.. long time no see..... was just checking in to see how the development is going but there has been no news since PAXEast. I checked the main website and it hasn't been updated either. Can we please have an update on how things are progressing? Thanks.

    5. Missing_small

Creator Aaron Babcock on March 25

Just got back from PAXEast where I checked out the build you had setup in the KickStarter area; so just wanted to drop in and say I like what I see so far, so keep the good work going!

It is kind of slightly weird going to your webpage (that link below) and not finding a forum. Still after a few days getting over that, i know that running a forum can be a full time job of itself. And looking at how busy this page is overall, i think maybe we might manage as is?

Seeing that most of your effort is now fully on making the game, of which you have the design aspects all pretty much set down, it may be best for you (and us backers!) if you just focused on that effort? That's just my gut feeling on the issue, i'm a frequent forum user in general, but this project is a little different etc? Others chime in to tell me if i'm completely wrong, as i don't speak for anyone but myself!

    7. Fb_profile_picture.small

Creator Sortasoft LLC on January 10

We don't have a forum now, but would be willing to set one up if there's enough interest. Let me know here, or via a message, if you want one.

    8. Avatar.small

Creator light487-Tormented Parrot Keeper of OOoE on January 10

Yes, I was about to ask the same question: Will there be a forum that we can all hang out on and pose questions and all that stuff that is usually done on forums? The comments section here is fine for "chatting" but as there is little structure, things get lost quite quickly..

    9. Advben.small

Is there a Sortasoft forum we can all hang out on?

@light487 [Backer of Axis Game Factory]: I stand corrected. With *significantly more* voice work, I mean. From what I understand of "very minimal", we're talking practically nothing at the moment, but I'm willing to be surprised.

    25. Avatar.small

Creator light487-Tormented Parrot Keeper of OOoE on January 6

@muttala If you're left handed.. wouldn't having the IJKL keys (instead of WASD) be a good alternative? I mean.. for a righty.. the left hand is on the keyboard at the left-hand side of the keyboard.. so it would make sense that a lefty would have the right-hand on the keyboard at the right-hand side of the keyboard?

Essentially.. the ability to remap all keystrokes in the game shouldn't be too hard to implement?

    26. Gasseous_entity_sdavatar__party_goat.small

New announcement from the Meriwether team! If you raise your pledge by $50K, we get amazing voice work, AND you get to define & earn the next stretch goal! Amazing!!!

Jörn Huxhorn: So far, I only see https://twitter.com/joshdebonis where Josh tweets about Meriwether a reasonable amount (he uses "#Meriwether" to promote it), but I agree that the game or studio may benefit from a dedicated account. I suppose that is not the sort of thing you spend the time to set up if your not 100% positive that your project is going to be funded, but in this case, Sortasoft is 120% certain! ;-)

    44. Photo250px.small

Creator Jason Broadley on January 5

So, if we don't get $50k (and it's looking like a real longshot at this point), is there any chance you might make Meriwether's Nightmare later on as an expansion pack or DLC-kinda thing? I'd pay extra for that. Maybe you can even run a separate Kickstarter for it later.
For the record, if there had been more time left in the Kickstarter, I would have suggested moving the Nightmare to $45k and Endless Arcade Mode to $50k; I guess you can tell which one I'd rather have. ;-) Regardless, I'm so glad this project got funded and can't wait to play it!

Mutalla, we haven't been planning that as a feature. But after this is over, let's chat about specifically how you think that should work and if we can find a good solution we'd be happy to include it. Thanks for backing anyway!

It is his family (Sacagawea and their son, Jean Baptiste) that helps Native American tribes see the Corps of Discovery less as a military outfit and more as a band of peaceful explorers. ★★ SPONSOR PIERRE CRUZATTE ★★ Brought on as a boatman and interpreter and well-liked for his fiddling, Cruzatte's biggest claim to fame is that HE SHOT MERIWETHER LEWIS. Cruzatte, who definitely had poor vision and may even have been blind in one eye, probably mistook Lewis for a tasty elk or somesuch while they were out hunting (Lewis was dressed in buckskin). The bullet hit Lewis through his "left hip-joint," then "cut the thickness of the bullet across the hinder part of the right thye [sic]." In other words, both buttocks with one bullet. Awesome. Sponsor Cruzatte and have your name associated with the man who almost took out Lewis (in both the Wunderkammer and the credits). ★★★ SPONSOR PRESIDENT THOMAS JEFFERSON ★★★ Jefferson's contributions to the formation of the United States of America can hardly be overemphasized, and as America's third president, he was the ultimate architect of the Corps of Discovery's Expedition. He hired Lewis as his personal secretary and trained him in scientific classification, cryptography, and many other skills essential to the voyage. In MERIWETHER, Jefferson is the first person Lewis speaks to in the game. That means he is also the first NPC players can click on and see the generosity of this level's backer extolled in the Wunderkammer (and also in the credits). Backing us at this level also earns you everything at the QUARTERMASTER level, and an 11x14 giclée print of Jefferson on stretched canvas.

★★★ SPONSOR WILLIAM CLARK ★★★ Though the government of the United States only approved a commission of lieutenant, Lewis and Clark agreed they would tell the Corps that Clark was a co-captain of the Expedition. In every way, the two men shared command. That may sound like a formula for disaster, but the amazing success of the Expedition speaks to the remarkable character of both men. In many ways, Clark was the work-horse of the Corps, the reliable and constant soldier who would endure any hardship for his country and his fellow soldiers. He was also the Corps' cartographer and the man we have to thank for the amazingly accurate maps he created on the voyage. Narratively, Clark is a lynchpin of MERIWETHER, the character to whom you will speak most often. Sponsorship at this level includes everything at the QUARTERMASTER level, recognition in the credits and Wunderkammer as the sole sponsor of Captain Clark, and an 11x14 giclée print of Clark on stretched canvas.

★ SPONSOR MERIWETHER LEWIS ★ The man himself! Captain Lewis had an embarrassment of talents: athletic, courageous, and a dead-eye marksman, he was the soldier you wanted standing next to you in a fight. But he was also keenly intelligent, equally adept in the sciences as in the arts. He is one of the United States' earliest naturalists, recording literally hundreds of plant and animal species new to Western science. At the same time, he expresses himself in his journals with a brio that would be the envy of any poet. It is this American original who serves as the centerpiece and vehicle for MERIWETHER.
