70+ portraits & stories of pit bulls from across the U.S., all doing their part to educate about the world's most misunderstood breed.

Once known as "nanny" dogs, pit bulls have long been a part of family life. Helen Keller's guide dog was a pit bull. Petey, the dog on the Little Rascals tv show, was a pit bull. However, in recent years, the media has turned these family dogs into vicious beasts. Those who spend their lives with pit bull type dogs know though that there are no bad dogs, only bad owners. 

It's my goal to create a photo book on pit bulls and pit bull type dogs, which are all dogs that are discriminated against because of the way they look. I want to have their stories educate the public about this "breed," what is going on with pit bull type dogs in the US today, and what can be done about it.

This will be my third book in my series, The Photo Book Projects. You can read more about the projects on The Photo Book Project web site. (The first two books were on deaf dogs and rescued dogs.)

I'll am traveling across the country (May 4 until July 31) - photographing pit bulls, meeting with rescue groups, photographing dogs in shelters. Many of the ex-Michael Vick pit bulls will be a part of this project. Once the trip is completed I will be creating the book and getting copies printed. The money raised on this site will help pay for the travel costs and the high cost of printing these books. 

I will be donating a portion of the proceeds to rescues that help rescue pit bulls and help educate the public about them.
