Update #9: Thank you!
Well, we made it, and then some! Just a final update to say thanks to all of you for making this happen. In a couple of hours the time will be up on this project and your pledges will be charged to your credit cards. And I'll be having your prints made and sending them out over the next couple of weeks.
Your support came just in time to help me get the Pits and Perception paintings professionally crated and shipped off to the first exhibition in Salt Lake City, which opens on Dec 18th. The paintings left my studio last week on their way to Las Vegas where Craters and Freighters Company will build three special re-usable boxes for them, four paintings per box. Then they'll ship them off to Patrick Moore Gallery. Your support will also help with shipping the paintings to other shows next year. Several are still being negotiated, but Syracuse University in June is definite.
So thank you very much, and I hope to see you at one of the shows! Please stay in touch!

Cyrus

Update #8: Topped the goal!
Hi everyone Thank you all very, very much for your support! We've now gone over the goal of $2500.00!
The way this works is nothing will be charged to your card until after the Nov 30 deadline, and that's when I'll be sending out the prints. There are still 14 days left, so if you know someone who wanted one of the prints (basically at a deep discount) they can still pledge and get one!
Thanks again for making this happen!

Update #7: Wow! Only $62 left to go!
Thank you all very much for your pledges of support for this project! It certainly looks like we'll reach the target, and who knows, we might even go over it! That's fantastic!
Yesterday I scheduled pick up of the Pits and Perception paintings with a company called Craters and Freighters. Next week they'll go to Las Vegas where the paintings will be crated and then shipped to Patrick Moore Gallery in Salt Lake City. They'll be there until end of January 2010. The next scheduled exhibition is in Syracuse in June. So if you'd like Pits and Perception to come to your city and you know a museum curator or gallery director please let me know! I'm looking for venues right now for the spring and fall of 2010!

Update #6: Come to the reception!
Well we're almost there! Only $562 left on the $2500 target! That's only a few more pledges and we're there. So I want to send out a great big THANK YOU to all of you who are making this possible. And by the way, the first showing of Pits and Perception is at the Patrick Moore Gallery in Salt Lake City, UT. So if you're in the area please come to the reception on Friday Dec 18th from 6 - 9 pm! Hope to see you there.

Update #5: Over half way home!
Hello all you wonderful backers! With your help today we passed the halfway mark! Thank you! Thank you very much! The pledge total is $1453.00 as of 11pm Pacific time today, (I'm in San Francisco this week). And with 34 days to go, the $2500.00 goal is more than reachable! Only $1047.00 left!
So remember here's how this works. If we don't reach the goal by the deadline on Nov 30th the project doesn't get funded, your credit cards won't be charged and pledge gifts won't be sent out. So please continue to talk this up, post on your Facebook and Twitter feeds, email your art and animal loving friends. We're going down the home stretch and the goal is in sight!
So thank you again for your help!
Amor y Paz,
Cyrus

Update #4: 39% funded!
Hey everybody, as of today Pits and Perception is 39% funded, with 35 days to go! This is great! Thank you all for your help in promoting this project to your friends and family. We're getting close to the home stretch!
BTW, you can see photos of all the Pits and Perception paintings on my website here: http://cyrusmejia.com/art/pits-and-perception
Thanks again!

Update #3: 25% milestone!
Hi all you wonderful backers! Just to let you know today the Pits and Perception project reached the all important milestone of 25%! Pledges so far equal one quarter of the total! I'm excited, this is great! And we've done this in just four days! If this keeps up we'll reach the total way before the deadline.
So thank you, thank you for your support. Please help me keep the momentum going by telling all your friends about this Kickstarter project!

Update #2: Four Original Drawings
Here are photos of all four original drawings I'm offering as pledge gifts. I'm pleased at how good the prints look!
I'm also very pleased at how well this project is going, we've raised almost $400 of the $2,500 total in just a few days! But the way this works is if we don't raise all of the target by the end date (which is Nov. 30) nothing happens! Donor's credit cards are not charged and the project doesn't get anything.
So I'm asking all you donors to please help a little more. No I'm not asking you for another pledge, just to help me spread the word. If every donor were to introduce at least one of your friends to this project and they became donors, we'd double our pledges overnight!
I'm very pleased with the momentum this project has developed. Help me keep it going!
Thanks very much,
Cyrus
Update #1: Prints of drawings!
Hi everyone, I just got sample prints of the original drawings I'm giving out as pledge gifts. They're fantastic! I can hardly tell the print from the original! I've posted a couple of pics for you to compare, which one do you think is the original?
Thanks for your support, as of today we're off to a roaring start! Tell all your art and animal loving friends about this project.

Cyrus Mejia contemporary artist, is co-founder of Best Friends Animal Society. Mejia believes art is activism, grabbing attention and shining light into darkness! His art reflects the ideals of kindness and compassion while shining a light on speciesism, ignorance and cruelty.
When asked how he hoped his art would be remembered, one of the famous abstract expressionist painters said: "I hope my art will have as much impact on society as that of an old shoe" Cyrus Mejia does not follow this philosophy! He believes art does have an important role to play in our world, that: "Art can focus the attention and direct the emotions in ways no other medium can achieve". This idea is as old as human history. Art is sometimes the only thing left from pre-historic societies. The cave paintings, the carvings and pottery, tell us all we know about what went on thousands of years ago. And the artist/shaman was an important figure in ancient society. He/she told the story, created the myth, described the unknown, and pointed the way! This was not "art for art's sake" but art for life's sake! This is the art that Cyrus Mejia strives to create.
Cyrus, So happy you made it! Can't believe they will be here in Las Vegas but not on exhibit... so close, yet so far! ; ) But I believe these were the ones that my sister (Amy) and I had the honor of seeing in your studio a few months back when we visited BF. Can't beat that!
Congratulations and safe travels! Can't wait to get my prints! - Heidi, Las Vegas, NV
