About this project

Megawords is a non-commercial record of place and human experience.
Our mission is simple: to document our surroundings, experience, to have a voice free from the noise of commercialization and competing novelties, and to create an open and active dialogue between Megawords and the community at large. We have self-published twelve advertisement free issues, broadcast a weekly internet radio show, and organized multiple events and performances under the banner of Megawords. The majority of our efforts up to this point have been completely self-funded. We've been able to make a lot happen so far on our own and with the help or our contributors, subscribers and other supportes. We think that with your help, that now is the time to take the Megawords project to a new level that otherwise would be impossible.
We do not sell Megawords - we give away each issue for free, as well as distribute it across the world for free.
WITH YOUR HELP MEGAWORDS WILL: 1. Be able to print 2 issues of the magazine through 2011. Each issue is usually between 48 and 96 pages, mostly color, and printed in various sizes and on different paper stock. We choose the size an stock that suits our current subject matter, and helps us tell the story best.
2. Create a site-specific installation project in Philadelphia. Along with our collaborators on both coasts, we will put together a public art installation in Philadelphia. You may have seen what we did with the Megawords storefront http://megawordsmagazine.com/projects/sample-project and our other projects here http://megawordsmagazine.com/projects. These will give you a taste for what we are planning.
3. Pay for smaller operational costs like our web server, distribution, shipping, packaging etc. There are a lot of small costs associated with running an independent, advertisement free magazine, and having these costs taken care of will help us focus on the business of putting together the best publication possible.

Megawords is a non-commercial record of place and human experience.
Our mission is simple: to document our surroundings, experience, to have a voice free from the noise of commercialization and competing novelties, and to create an open and active dialogue between Megawords and the community at large. We have self-published twelve free issues, broadcast a weekly internet radio show, and organized multiple events and performances under the banner of Megawords. With time came positive feedback from a diverse audience and a strong realization that this project had a profound impact.
Through the magazine, we have worked with a number of intriguing artists, photographers, designers, writers and creative people in a collaborative and direct manner. Each issue has its own aura and direction, yet remains integral to the Megawords aesthetic and mission. A new context for the allocated and appropriated images and ideas coming from our contributors and ourselves is created, and in turn a unique and timely outlook on society and our time is presented.
Megawords continues to be an experiment in contemporary media and communication, and strives to provide a relevant and critical contribution to the art of our time.
