The Stand-Up Desk Kit is a smooth 47 x 23 x 1 inch desk surface which sits securely on top of a current desk, easily converting it into a stand up desk. There are four Patent Pending non-slip, adjustable legs made of sturdy recyclable ABS plastic which adjust in 1" increments for various heights, allowing just about everyone to use it and reap the many health benefits of standing while working. At its lowest, the Stand-Up Desk Kit is 12 inches above the original work surface, while at its highest setting the Stand-Up Desk Kit is 17 inches above the original work surface. The Stand-Up Desk Kit's smooth top surface is made of high quality MDF composite wood, essentially shrink wrapped (we think it might involve magic too) in your choice of finishes. Our Stand-Up Desk Kit will be made in the USA with high quality materials and will retail for $300 plus shipping.

Finishing Options

***UPDATE*** If we get to 80 backers by Saturday the 14th we will unlock the Leather, Carbon Fiber and Brushed Aluminum finishes.

We mentioned we have a number of finishing options available. To start we are offering a finished surface in one of eight options. Matte Black, Shark Gray, Matte White, Glass, Cherry, Mahogany, Walnut, and Maple. We are also offering different leg colors, white, black, dark grey, yellow or blue. We have not finalized what colors and options will be available and will be taking input from you, our backers, as to which colors and patterns you like the most.

If we surpass our initial goal the first extended goal we have is to offer more options such as, carbon fiber, leather, transparent legs, etc. If we reach a secondary goal of 35k we will begin development on multiple sized work surfaces.

Our Feelings

Sitting for long periods of time at work was making us sluggish, slow, and unhappy. We noticed that we didn't have much energy when we got home to the people we wanted to spend time with.

Research

There are a number of studies showing that being more active throughout the day has positive results, both physically and mentally. We loved this study done by Men's Health and other pilot programs done in schools.

Our Personal Results

After switching to a standing work station, we immediately noticed increased mental sharpness, more energy, and less back pain. (Although you do have to focus on standing properly too, but that's easy) In addition, it's hard not to move more when you're standing. This has led to weight loss and more spontaneous dancing.

Action

After noticing our positive results, we wanted to get a more professional-looking setup and help others who were in a similar situation to us. In our spare time, we found geniuses to help us, and we created the Stand-Up Desk Kit.

Rewards

For pledging $250 you can get your own Stand-Up Desk Kit. There is a limit to this special early bird price. Otherwise a pledge of $330 will get a Stand-Up Desk Kit delivered to your door (if your door is in the lower 48 states of the USA).

Pledging $500 will get you a custom one of a kind etched Stand-Up Desk Kit. This can be any design you have a high resolution version of. We will tweak the design so any lines will fit our smallest routing bit. If you miss the limited early bird special you can get an etched Stand-Up Desk Kit for a pledge of $600. Lets say you want to order 10 Stand-Up Desk Kits with your company logo etched on the top left corner, you'll pledge $500 for the first one and then $250 for each one after the first, or $2250 more for the other nine.

The other pledge levels are for large orders of 5 or more and 15 or more, because we know everyone has friends. For example, we have 7 people at our office who stand while they work, so if we all pool together we'll get a better deal!
