Statc is a portable camera pod that enables stable shots and unique perspectives while reducing your need to always lug bulky gear.
Sometimes hauling a tripod can be a nuisance, especially when exploring urban environments. How about a portable alternative that actually adds functionality as well?
Statc's portability, ease of use and magnetic mounting system make stable shots accessible all the time, without any extra bulk. Plus it allows you to capture shots from unique perspectives that no other camera pod is capable of.
What is Statc?
Statc is a portable magnetic camera pod with a adjustable ball head. It is great for urban and cityscape photography because these environments have metal surfaces everywhere such as railings, benches, light poles, meters and more. It can be quickly attached and removed with virtually no setup time. Unlike many ultra portable camera pods, Statc only needs a surface area of about 1 inch to be stably secured and the surface does not have to be level, such as round railings or stairway rails.

How frustrating is it when you want to take a photo or video of yourself with your group of friends? Statc is great for taking self or group portraits without having to ask a stranger to take the shot for you. No more blurry photos, shaky videos, or badly composed shots by strangers. Statc attaches in orientations you never thought of, allowing for very unique perspectives of you and the group.

Portable and easy to use.

What about rewards?
All of the available rewards are on the right column of your screen, each of these include domestic U.S. shipping. International shipping is $15.

What's the money for?
The money will be used for the minimum quantity of machined parts to be made, tooling for the the injection molded plastic insert that houses the ball head, magnets and secret sauce.
Quality
The Statc's parts are machined of aircraft grade aluminium for durability and great looks. The internal parts housing is injection molded plastic, which also doubles as a slightly raised plastic base to help prevent scratching delicate surfaces.
MADE IN THE USA
Statc will be completely manufactured in the USA. Tooling and CNC work will all be done in the Treasure Valley, Idaho and the injection molding will be performed in the great state of Washington. This will allow us to easily visit and monitor progress if funding is successful, which is an important factor for quality control.
Will there be future Statc products?
If this project is successful, we have been working on various Statc accessories and other photography gear.
Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and read about the Statc. We appreciate your support and are so excited about introducing our first product to Kickstarters!

FAQ
-
The maximum tilting angle of the ball head is 35-36 degrees in any direction.
-
The current model of Statc is not recommended for use with large DSLR cameras. The largest camera supported would be your mirror-less interchangeable lens cameras.
-
The myth that one should avoid placing magnets near anything electronic is just that, a myth. Back when floppy disks and other magnetic tape based media were relevant this was true. Many don't realize that magnets are already in most of our computers and gadgets. For example, the iPad has over 10 magnets inside of it, hard drives are partially held together with magnets, and MacBook's have them as well.
-
Yes, these use a magnetic tape similar to floppy drives and tapes, which we discussed above as being an item potentially damaged by magnets.
-
No, the flange atop the ball head is the same size as the top of the base, and the first thing to come into contact with it. This means your camera should never contact the top of the base, which would preventing you from reaching maximum tilting angles.
