The Overview!

Stages for the Ages is an experiment in concert bookings.  Our thesis is that Fans + Bands + The Internet = Successful Concerts.

We're going to use a Kickstarter like pledge process to let performing artists and fans book concerts together.  And, with your help, we're going to do it at big venues, where these artists wouldn't get a chance to headline!

The project is vital because right now, few venue owners believe that the internet can empower bands to book gigs successfully.  Help us change their minds!

The details

Stages for the Ages is the first attempt to put promotions in the hands of artists and fans.  We will be hosting at least 5-concerts in Boston at prominent music venues (i.e., The Mideast Club, Great Scott Allston, Cafe 939, etc.) and opening the stage to artists who's fans pledge to buy tickets.  For the first time, new artists, without representation or a long track record, will be able to leverage fan support to play in front of larger audiences.

Every dollar raised through Stages for the Ages will go to renting stage space, and every dollar spent on tickets will go directly to the performing artists.  The concert series is about promoting artists that deserve the space and rewarding them without venue owners and promoters taking a cut.  Long live the emerging musician!

While the goal of the fundraiser is to pay for a month long concert series, if we pass our fundraising goal we will add one concert for every 2000 dollars we raise (roughly what it will cost us to rent a venue and promote a show for an evening).

nuevoStage: Making emerging artists' lives easier

For decades, the live performance industry has been controlled by a set of concert promoting gatekeepers, people who owned or ran stage space. For the most part, this system works pretty well.  A group of very informed audiophiles end up planning tours and making sure bands come to your city... the problem is this system completely breaks down for emerging artists.

It's incredibly difficult for emerging musicians to convince these stage-gatekeepers to let them play.  These musicians lack established track records that demonstrate their ability to draw an audience... but that doesn't mean they can't.  And what's more important, if no one ever gives them a chance to book a significant show, these artists will never be able to build the track record they need to break into the big-time.  In the end, these artists end up spending huge amounts of time just trying to book hard to find opportunities to gig around town.

Enter nuevoStage.  We're here to prove to the world that emerging and amateur artists deserve more opportunities than they currently receive. We allow venues to list open stage dates, allow bands to list potential shows, and we allow fans to pledge to attend. Kind of like Kickstarter, when enough fans pledge to attend the concert is booked and fans receive tickets.

That's why this project is possible.  Our system makes it so emerging artists can easily prove they deserve stage space.  While concert promoters don't yet believe us, we're confident we can prove it.  And that's where you come in.  We need your help to rent the stages, to prove that emerging artists deserve more of a shot.  We need your help in changing the world just a little bit.
