About this project

My name is Christopher Maverick and I am a photographer and the writer for the online comic strip Cosmic Hellcats. Cosmic Hellcats got its start when I decided to do a science fictiony style photoshoot with some of the models I work with. As we played with the idea, I decided it might be fun to have an accompanying comic book. I called an artist friend of mine, Maximilian, and asked him to draw it. We produced the first issue out of pocket and solicited it at Pittsburgh Comicon 2008.

We had so much fun with the project that the one shot turned into an ongoing webcomic over the last two years. We're now returning to Pittsburgh Comicon to promote the webcomic and the print edition. We're looking to raise funds for publication of the print editions of the last two years of webcomics to both raise awareness of the strip which will hopefully allow us to print more publications in the future.

All money raised will go directly into publishing the year one and year two anthologies, as well as a special trade paperback that includes both of those as well some extras such as sketches, pin-ups, photoshoots and concept art that went into producing those strips. The editions will debut at Pittsburgh Comicon 2010 and will be offered for sale on the Cosmic Hellcats website soon after.

Any overflow that is generated past the goal amount will be used to attend other conventions and publish later issues.

And by all means, if you're in Pittsburgh, PA on April 23rd through the 25th, please stop by our booth at the Pittsburgh Comicon and say hello. And if you're not, then we'd love to hear from you, either by leaving comment on comics on the site or by emailing us at feedback@cosmichellcats.com.

For international supporters (outside of the United States and Canada), please add the following amounts for shipping:

$10-74 pledge = add $10
$100–200 pledges = add $15

Update: We met our goal of $1200 with a couple weeks to spare. But we're not done yet. Max and I have other characters and other stories to tell. So if we can reach a minimum of $500 additional dollars in pledges we hope to be able to put together an additonal book that we can slip into everyone's pledge rewards pack. Further details are in the Update page of this project.

The more we get the better the chance, so keep the pledges coming.
