I am Maura Mendoza, and I am doing a fund-raising campaign to record my songs in a professional studio. My music style ranges from bossa nova, reggae and ballads -all the way to my Latin American roots. All these colorful rhythms are wrapped in a jazzy style with Jeremy Quick, guitar, John Servo, bass and Jungho Kang, percussion: three extremely talented musicians from the Boston Area.

The conventional way of producing music is rapidly changing. New technologies empower independent artists to become producers of their own music. This gives emerging musicians more freedom. Although being a self-producer is risky, it's also more spontaneous, honest, and gives us more creative control over the final product.

My band and I have five original songs ready to be recorded that would complete our first Album. If this campaign is successful, it will cover the cost of the hours of studio, mixing, mastering, and the final product as a CD.

When I first estimated the budget, the cost of production went over seven thousand dollars, but with the help of key people, musicians and others who have had experience working in similar projects, I was able to bring down the budget to five thousand dollars.

If you are reading this, it's because you like my music and you want to participate in this production. You and I both believe in giving emerging talents a chance to flourish, a chance for their voices to be heard. I am convinced that my music has much to offer and share with everyone who wants to hear warm and authentic Latin music blended with local American sounds.
