About this project
Alright.
Whew...
So, I've been putting this particular piece of writing off for awhile now, but it is time. Friends. Family. Citizens of the world. I am making a record. And I need your help.
I'm sorry that this has taken so long. The last time I had some music to give you was in high school and it took the form of some piano-vocals recorded by a dear friend at a little church. As you might suspect, I've done some living since then and I have a lot more to give. If you've seen me play a show you've heard some of the songs, but the sad truth is that they've never had a life beyond what I can do with a microphone and a piano. It is time to change all that.
The songs are written. The players are tuning their instruments. The chord charts are being printed. The engineer/producer is preparing to work his dark magic in the control room. I am ready. My Nashville family is ready. There are only a few things standing in our way - the locked doors of the recording studio and, as you saw in the video, an intimidating woman standing about 5' 8" and wearing a "Born to Run" t-shirt. How do you question an authority in a Springsteen shirt?
In all seriousness, we're going to make this record right. Full band. Three grand is a bare-bones budget, but my friends and I will be putting our hearts and souls into this record because we believe in sharing these songs with you. The money will cover quality studio time and mastering costs as well as the compensation and general well-being of all the incredible people involved. It is the least they deserve for their dedication to this project.
So. There's the pitch. If you're even looking at this project, thank you for your support. I have been incredibly lucky to have so many people by my side the past few years, helping me to find a home sharing my songs and heart with anyone and everyone willing to listen. This project really is for you. It's for the people who believed in me before I even had the confidence to sing in public and it's for all of you who continue encouraging me to do what I love. I wouldn't/won't be anywhere without you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. With your help, we'll all have something that we can be proud of. Who knows where it could go and the people it could reach?
That's all. I better wrap this thing up before I insert any more corny jokes; there are enough of those floating around the rest of this page. Spread the word. I'll be posting some more shenanigans on this page and on the web in the days that follow. We can do this. Remember, if we don't reach our goal by the deadline, none of the money goes through. Also, any money exceeding our goal will go towards the admirable mission to print physical copies as well as fund an upcoming tour. I want to see your faces and hug your necks!
