We've launched an exciting new project of our own! Introducing the Kickstarter app for iPhone!

Funded! This project successfully raised its funding goal on December 3, 2011.

9 months in the making and finally here!

Update #8 · Aug 7, 2012 · comment

In the past couple of weeks, I finally received the finished vinyl AND my wife Melissa and I were blessed with a beautiful baby girl - Sophia Madeline, born on 7/29/12 @ 8:56 pm. She seems to be a Harry Nilsson fan already, responding to his whistling and be-bopping: doo wakka, doo wakka, doo wakka, doooo!

Thanks to all of you who supported this project and patiently awaited the results. As I have learned over and over, all works of quality take time, passion and focused energy. I hope you can hear it in the songs and may they last for you and me.

If you have not responded to my survey, please send me your mailing address so I can get you your copy of the record, etc. (email: mazzarto@gmail.com) And, please tell your friends, share the music. The record is available on iTunes, and Amazon - just search "Matt Madly"

I now have my inspiration for the next chapter of songs. . . onward and upward - Rock On! - MMadly

Just in time for the Summer!

Update #6 · May 28, 2012 · comment

We've almost come to the end of the tracks . . . Here's the latest - all songs were mixed by Bil Emmons before he went on tour with Snow Patrol in May, except a couple done by the talented Ed Stasium (best know for his work with the Ramones). The Mastering was done by Steve Fallone at Sterling Sound, whose credits include The Strokes and Nada Surf amongst many others. The files have been sent to the manufacturing plant in Virginia (made in the USA!). I completed the artwork - incorporating photos by, my expecting wife, Melissa and Jamie Eng. The test pressings are in and sound better than I imagined - ah sweet vinyl!!!

So now it's up to the manufacturer to finish their bit and ship back to the Think Tank. It should only be a couple of weeks.

Thanks again for your contribution and for supporting the creative process. I look forward to sending you something to sing along with this summer.

Skydiving!

Update #5 · Feb 18, 2012 · comment

Hello Backers - So here's where we are at:

10 songs are mixed and ready for mastering, made a rough sequence and realized there was still something missing. . . so, in January, my partner in crime Bil E. and I put together 1 more tracking session. We invited the very talented Jim Boggia, Dave Stengel, and my Bro and banged out 2 songs - Sweetheart's Retreat and Skydiving. The latter was written on the day Melissa and I got engaged. It was also the day the picture in my last update was taken at the end of a daylong hike on Overlook Mountain in the Catskills - but I digress . . . anyway - enjoy the demo (audio file attached) it will be interesting to compare to the finished product.

Also - I have taken some photos for the album cover and am working on the artwork/package for the vinyl & CD. T-shirts shirts are done and received. So, a rough timeline I am trying to stick to targets finishing the mix on these last 2 songs and Mastering in the next 2 weeks. Manufacturing takes 4-6 weeks from receiving the finished master, so looks like I may have something for you by Tax day - April 15th.

Man, how time flies - makes you feel like jumping on 3 - 1, 2, 3 - I am Skydiving! I'll carry you if you carry me. . . . -Matt Madly

Looks like we made it!!!

Update #4 · Dec 3, 2011 · comment

Isn't that the title of a cheesy Barry Manilow song circa 1976? I promise the album will not have any fluff like that. Thank you, thank you, thank you, to all of you who have generously pledged your support. Now the onus is on me to finish this thing. As we move to the finish line, I will keep you posted via updates through Kickstarter on progress towards the completed record.

I have 1 more session slated to record a proper version of an original song called Skydiving. I have attached the demo so you can get a feel for the process. This was written the weekend Melissa and I got engaged (the photo attached was also taken that weekend at the end of a long hike in the Catskills). I recorded the demo using a sampled kick with just a 4 on the floor beat. I hope to develop the rhythm section to something a bit more dynamic, and I am trying to enlist the help of some talented musician friends to bring it up a notch - bam!

Many Thanks! -MMadly
