Update #6: That's A Wrap!

Posted on December 17, 2009

Now that Mark Duplass is in the movie-making business, we figured that's the best way to officially signal the end of the Volcano, I'm Still Excited!! Kickstarter project.

All pledge packages have been mailed out -- so everyone who donated should be able to listen to the album on high quality, 180-gram vinyl in the very near future.

Also, you can now become a fan of VISE!! on Facebook. We’ll do our best to provide updates on Mark, Craig and JTR3, as well as posting announcements if and when new Volcano recordings are released. Go to: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Volcano-Im-Still-Excited/170114755181...

Thanks one last time for bearing with us through the LP pressing process. Of course, we couldn't have done it without your help! There was never a dull moment and we're glad you were there to take the ride with us.

Happy Holidays!

The Marble Brown looks and sounds amazing! Was this in replace of the Maroon? Really like it, congrats on making this release happen!

Update #5: Test Pressings Shipped; Finished LPs on the Way!

Posted on December 7, 2009

This project is almost complete!

The brand new test pressings showed up at our office last week, so everyone who pledged at the $65 level had their packages (minus the finished versions) shipped out on Friday.

And, according to our distributor, finished copies of the Volcano, I'm Still Excited!! LP could be arriving by the end of the week. This means that we should definitely be able to get everybody's rewards sent out before our holiday break!

I received my test pressings, single, etc., today. Cool! Thanks a milllion.

Update #4: Test Pressings Shipping Next Week (Fingers Crossed)!

Posted on November 24, 2009

Well, everyone, thanks for your patience. When you signed on to be a part of pressing a record from start to finish, you get to be part of the full experience!

In some totally frustrating news, the first batch of test pressings arrived a couple weeks ago. We listened to one before sending them out to everyone and lo and behold there was a “pop” in “Trunk of My Car”.

Soooooo, we had to go back and have the A side recut and have a second set of test pressings made. The new tests should be arriving early next week, at which point we’ll be sending out test pressings (and DVDs and 7"s) to everyone who pledged in the $65 category. And while we are at it, we’re going to throw in the first test pressing (with the pop) for those people, too.

Update #3: Artwork Approved -- Jackets Printing Soon

Posted on October 29, 2009

Gregg Bernstein is now finished with the album artwork, which means the LP packaging is approved and heading off to the printer today!

Looking good and looking forward to seeing the finished article! Thanks for keeping us updated on the project.

Update #2: VISE!! Test Pressings Coming Soon!

Posted on October 21, 2009

For everyone who's been asking about how the project is coming along -- don't worry -- it hasn't gone dormant! (Oh man, we love Volcano-related puns.)

It’s amazing the kinds of things you encounter when going back to a project that’s six years old.

Our great friend and long-time freelance designer Gregg Bernstein (www.madebygregg.com) opened up the original CD layout files, only to find that they were in Quark. Now, in 2003 Quark was the hot-dog design program. In 2009, well...not so much! So after much ado, the layouts have been re-created and upsized for LP jackets in InDesign (the premier design program of 2009). We should have some screenshots to post in about two more weeks.

Next, we went to our favorite mastering engineer John Golden (www.goldenmastering.com). Of course, right where the songs split for the A and B sides (right after “Mostly on an Island”) the song crossfades into “Around the Dream.” So John then had to break out the original masters and get the songs separated for the vinyl pressing. That was successful and the records were cut on October 7 and off to Mastercraft for some high quality plating. Finally, they shipped to Rainbo Records and arrived on Oct 16 for test pressing pressing.

The test pressings should ship out in about two weeks, and of course we’ll keep you posted as soon as they do. If everything stays on track, we hope to have finished product by the first week of December.

Thanks again for making this project possible!

Matt

Matt - I'm STILL EXCITED for the test pressings and everything else VISE-related I have coming my way in December. You're doing an excellent job with this project. And now that I see that it's been remastered by Golden, it's technically a NEW record! It's like The Beatles remasters!!

I have moved within the last few months, and I think the address I submited may have been my old one! How do I find out, and possibly change this?

Update #1: Production starts next week!
